Familiar with the Dan Wesson 1911s, but I am completely ignorant to the world of Dan Wesson revolvers. Hoping to learn more about them here with the brain trust.
Helping out a friend with a revolver he needs to price. I believe this is a 715-8. How'd I do?
I found a few example on gun broker, but would love to get honest opinions of a fair price for this to set expectations for him.
There's the scratches behind cylinder and the stripped barrel nut as detractors, but otherwise seems to be in good condition. Nothing else included other than the gun.
Thanks to everyone in advance!

Welcome to the DWF from PA!
715 8 non vent, you did well.
The scratches can be polished out with a tan Scotch Brite pad. The barrel nut can be replaced once removed, even if it gets damaged in the process.
Gunbrokers completed auctions is your best guide to value. Geographic area makes a big difference in what a gun sells for.

Scorpio, we are sending you for remedial tutoring after school. 😉. NOT A 715. It is a 15-2 8S with hard chrome or ceracote coating. All Stainless 715s serial number start with an S, 357S, SD or S/D. The sideplate is not the improved version that stainless guns have. Do not use Scotch Brite on it. The scratch on the sideplate is probably from before it was plated.
Hard chromed guns are easy to keep clean but the value is affected.

Good catch ole Dog! On my phone, I can't see the serial number clearly.
What you state is correct, it's a 15-2 and he certainly doesn't want to use abrasive on a plated gun. I stand corrected.
Whoever did the plating did a very through job.

Fascinating turn of events here. I can see why you guys dig on these! Thank you all for your time and wisdom. It really does look like stainless, even right next to a stainless gun. Just the right amount of sheen. The rear sight does look a bit different than the rest. Looking closer, there are some scratches aft of the front sight on the top of the shroud. I found a chromed 15-2 on gun broker with a couple of barrels. no affiliation: link Funny, the gun was listed as a 715, then the description edited to add: "WOOOPS! This gun is not stainless. It is a blue gun with hard chrome plating. Made before DW had SS guns. WOOOPS!" Serial starts with a 3 as well. You guys rock! I think the plating looks great. Does it really hurt the value of the gun much? I can see a downside being that it will be close to impossible to find a barrel shroud to match. Looking at it again next to a 686, the hue is a bit brighter/whiter. Like an LED vs. an Edison.
