Hi Marc, to the . Dose your Login name indicate your a steel cowboy ?
From the looks of the auction side of sales lately a SS 44 can bring upwards of $800
depending on condition of course. One member recently stated he gave $525 for his
744, but I believe the planets were in alignment that night .
$35 for ammo is fair, have seen plenty of 44 that was higher than that. Cheapest I have
saw lately was CCI Blazer for $26.95 and that was a sale price.

I agree, $7-800 these days seems to be a fairly average rate. Some go a little higher & if you find a nce one for under $600, that's for sure. $35 for ammo is pretty good, it's often higher than that around my area.
to the A decent picture of production dates is coming along slowly, but we're making progress.
Let us know how your first range day goes & post up some of that baby!

Welcome to DWF. The Serial Number info on 744's is a little sparse, but a Monson gun will be pre-1992. Ballpark guess on yours is mid-late 1980's. I just got 100 of comercially remanufactured .44 Magnum for $61.
My 744 was one of the sub $600 ones on a real "off topic" auction on Gun Broker that was listed in such a way that it got very few views and mine was the only bid on it's second round on auction.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

First day at the indoor range was AWESOME!!! i LOVE this pistola!! and that was just paper punching... Very acurate, with the electronic dot site all the way to the end (30yd) kept them all in about 6" group. not bad for a neewb with little 44mag exp. and little heavy (im a small guy)
from about 50ft, while bench rested (to get acuracy) kept under 2" had a solid hole and almost shots were touching each other!!
rapid fire from standing weaver stance was all center mass
100 rds shot, NONE out side 8 ring, this is much better than i was shooting with my 92F 9mm.
i see a great things in the future with this weapon!!
Im still working of how to post pics!!
My Avitar is the only one of mine so far..

Hey Marc,
I thought you did, I road the iron horse myself a short run in the 90's till the little lady
threatened to pack up and take the dog with her…..she's lucky I loved that
dog .
I have made a few purchases with Sportsmans Guide for ammo lately. Here's
some prices on some that shoot's good for my 44. You can find $10 off coupon
codes on the internet, that just about covers shipping.

Watch out with the Wolf Gold. It is kind of on the warm side, 1267 ft lbs energy, I like
it , not sure what you want to put through your gun.
