Greetings fellow gun enthusiasts from the Lone Star State. Had a Taurus 44 mag on order and after 4 weeks of waiting I headed up to the LGS to see if they heard any news. Looking around I noticed a DW revolver sitting in the gun case that I was immediately drawn to. The craftsmanship is top notch and felt right sitting in my hand. Then when the salesperson stated I could change out the barrel it sealed the deal. I had them cancel the order on the Taurus and left with the Wesson. I own a couple of semi autos (Sigs), but do own a S&W, Colt, and Ruger revolver. I must say this has become my favorite revolver and can't wait to hit the range.
From what I have gathered from the little research I've done here I think it's a 15-2 VH8 from 1978-1979 (please correct me if I'm wrong) serial number is 176662.
On to the pics. The gun belt pictured was included in the sale (Just in case I wanted to pretend to be Rick Grimes LOL), the zippos and ammo were not.

Your Model is a 15-2 V8 (Vented Rib only, not with a Heavy underlug), which is the lightest barrel shroud of all the styles available and my favorite.
Nice rig, but forget the ammo and zippo's, those boots are awesome! I'm originally from Ft. Worth .. what about you?

Welcome to DWF, you are pretty much right on with the manufacture date (I LOVE it when New Members do some research!)
And you just might get the award for "Best Pictures in a First Post", we will be looking for you in the 2017 Dan Wesson Forum Calendar shootout
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks for the clarification. Those boots are technically my wifes, well kinda. The salt and pepper shakers go in them LOL. I live in Plano so not too far from Ft. Worth.

Thanks for the welcome! With the pictures I've seen posted there will be some stiff competition for the Forum calendar shoot, but I'm up for the challenge. Looks like I will need to borrow a real camera instead of using the one on my galaxy.

Welcome to the DWF from the "right side" of the Trinity.
Thanks for taking the time to give a really great introduction with pictures and everything. Fair warning, that won't be your last Dan.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone.
I had an opportunity to head to the range today to play around with the new revolver as well as my EDC Sig P320SC. Only shot 7 yards out to get a feel for it, but man is it on point. The 38 special rounds made it feel like I was shooting .22 and the 357 mag ammo felt like I was shooting 38 special. My P320 chambered in 357 SIG has twice the felt recoil than the revolver does LOL. First time out at the range with it and it received a few compliments. Had to text my wife and tell her how impressed I was with how it felt shooting. I rarely ever bring my revolvers to the range, but looks like this one will be coming everytime.
Quick question, how far out are you guys shooting before you see diminished accuracy or does ammo play a big part in this?
Very nice gun. 8"V is fun to shoot. The long sight radius makes it very accurate. Do you have a barrel tool? The cylinder face can get dirty and bind the cylinder and the metal expands. I always take a tool to the range in order to adjust the cylinder gap if I have to. My range is only 25 yards. It seems more than enough for my poor Ole eyes. 7 yards is good for sighting in but they are considered the most accurate production handgun ever made. ( Pythons may be their equal).
