Hi everyone. I am son of Steve CT, and he kept pestering me to join up here, oh about a year ago. I thought I did and was mighty confused when my email address could not be found
A little about me. I'm a Gunner's Mate in the Coast Guard. I just spent 3 years stationed in the Great State of Texas, and look forward to going back at some point. Currently I am assigned to a 110' Patrol Boat deployed to the Northern Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
I'm sure everyone has seen my 2 DW's in Steve's pictures, (but it don't hurt to throw a pic or two of them up here, Dad) so I will post a picture of my own. Not a DW, but in my humble opinion, just as fun

Meet Lafonda and Olga, the guns in one of my twin .50 mounts.

to the DWF S.o.S.
It appears that this "twins" thing is kind of a (to quote Hank, Jr) family tradition...I like the old man's twins just fine, but I think you just might have him outgunned there...
Nothin' quite like a .50...er two...
Thanks for the pics - you know how we are about pictures...
And Thanks for what you are doing for our country. Stay safe! (I said something similar in another post, but it probably can't be said too many times).

Welcome aboard Freerider04. Great to have you with us and even better it helps you keep in touch with "Dad". Thanks for keeping us safe and keep yourself that way too. We will keep your dad busy so he doesn't shoot out your toys in your absence.

Freerider04. Glad to have you here as a member and keeping in contact with dad! You have one very proud father here at the Forum. Just wanted to let you know that. We are all indebted to you and all of your fellow servicemen for your hard work and high risk you expend daily so that we can live in a free country. Words can never express enough how important people like you are in society. Please be careful, enjoy those twins and write often.

to our forum. Many thanks for your service and stay safe. Love the Ma Deuce.
IHMSA, the high point of a recent phone call to me was that he found 2 new (still in wrappers) barrels for his "babies", fairly sure they were NOS from at least 1-2 wars ago.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

A couple of photos have surfaced.
The first is USCGC Aquidneck in all her glory. WPB 1309 was part of the first "production run" for the Island Class Patrol Boat, built in 1984-86 (freerider was BORN in 1986). His SuperMag is on the bow, a 25mm Chain Gun
Next is a dhow, one of the many fishing boats that populate the area. Kind of a cool picture, I think

Island Class Cutters in a combat zone are crewed with 24-25 enlisted and officers, at least one (possibly two) in PATFORSWA are mixed gender crews. A crew rotation occurs every 6-8 months, where half the crew rotates out and is replaced.
On freeriders rotation, all new officers came in with him. The new rotation all trained together for almost 8 weeks, much of it with the Xe (the company formerly known as Blackwater). When we went to Portsmouth VA for his deployment training graduation, we were the only family members there for his crew. That evening we were invited to their Graduation Party at his new commanding officers house, and really had great fun getting to know all of them. It is a great comfort to us to know what fine, strong men he serves with. When we send out his weekly Care Package, we do it knowing it gets freely shared with them all. Sadly, some of these guys don't get a lot of "Home Support"
Sorry, I got carried away
