That is indeed the Large Frame grip, not really suited to your revolver. If you like that type grip, there are many available on eBay all the time, they could be available in a well stocked local gun shop as well.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

OK, I finally got around to working with my DW. The grip issue was an easy one for me since Hogue make a Pau Ferro wood grip with no finger grooves for the gun, I really like that grip and I think it will complement the DW nicely.
I pulled the barrel and played with the cylinder gap. There is definitely one chamber on the cylinder that is tighter than the others. So I don't mess this up, I gently hand tightened the barrel on the tightest chamber until I could, with a small amount of effort, remove the gauge. Is that about right?
With respect to roto-rootering the cylinder bores, should I be looking at a softer plastic brush or a brass wire brush?
Thanks for help, planning to get out to the range today and see how it feels after being adjusted.

Yep you got it on setting the gap
On the cylinder bores I use brass/copper brush, Hoppes tornado for the
tough jobs and as a last resort a brass brush wrapped with 0000 steel
wool for a real nasty job.
