Ran across your forums while searching for information about a handgun that I've had for around thirty years, but that hasn't been fired in at least twenty. I don't know the gun's history prior to my receiving it as part of a loan payment back in my college days. I think it's a Model 14 based on what I've read, but I haven't seen any pics that match this gun's frame shape. Serial Number is in the 843XX series.
I'd like to get a tool for the barrel nut on this gun, and wanted to be sure I was asking for the right model. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Matt

Hey Matt, Welcome to DWF! That's a nice looking 14-2 (the -2 means it has the straight shroud rather than the "porkchop" style), probably made in 1977 or so. Any standard DW Small Frame barrel wrench will work, save yourself a lot of trouble and buy one from EWK Arms
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Pinetor and Steve,
Thanks for the instant info! I'll be making my order with EWK shortly. And since you guys brought it up - what's your unbiased view of the PM7? Am seriously considering one, and it's one of the few that's on our restrictive CA roster.
Matt
I don't have a PM7, mine is a PM-1S. It's easily the best made, fitted, and most accurate centerfire auto I've ever owned. By all accounts the PM7 is a very good pistol, and you should not have any concerns buying it as long as it checks out properly for function and it is in good condition.

I feel compelled to add to Steve's comment with my own thoughts on the matter. I never really understood the seemingly unbridled fascination with the 1911 auto. Well, I recently dove head-first into my own crash course...my first foray into the 1911 realm was a Dan Wesson PMA-B (Pointman Aussie-Blued) in .45ACP. Almost a 100 years after it's inception, I have discovered that this gun design is really a marvel...a true extension to a person's arm, if I ever saw one. Yes, now & then, I'm accused as being slow on the uptake... Regarding this gun, I'm glad I finally clued in!
I have never before fired a gun that has left me with the feeling of "one with the machine", as this DW 1911.
Point to that spot, pull the trigger & lookie...a hole!
I can only assume that a PM7 will perform with the same results...if so, you'll more than likely be truly amazed!
My PMA-B...
