I appreciate all effort put into maintaining this site as I have been the benefactor of much advice and opinion. Live in So. Cal. and purchased a 740 in 92. My kids and I have enjoyed the gun ever since. Due to lack of ammo, the revolver caused me to start reloading for all my guns and started me down the great path of many different shooting sports (yes even in CA).

The 740 is in a great round and a great gun for shooting sports. I used mine in an IHMSA match 2 weeks ago. I shot big bore standing. It was my 1st comp with the gun so I was figuring out sight settings as I went along.
Half the fun of shooting is loading the ammo.

Thanks for the welcome.
For shooting iron I use a 200 gr RCBS #35 FN GC on top of 18.2 gr of 296. I would be interested in what load you used in your IHMSA match.

As a disclaimer: all loads need to be carefully worked up in your gun with your components.
I was using 19.5gr IMR-4227 with a 180gr Hornady XTP. Pretty accurate in my gun. I haven't taken the plunge into casting my own boolits yet. With heavy 357 projectiles not being produced I may this winter.

My first breach of site etiquette in not including a pic....the shame. Here is a pic of my 740 with the 10" barrel. As you can see by all the scratches, I don’t have to dust it off when I shoot it.
That was a pic worth waiting for! I officially pardon your initial oversight. LOL
To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:
if you find one...what's your plan?
