This seemed like the site to join for all things DW. Live in the Pacific NW, with wifey and son. Just waiting to get my hands on my ECO 9. Been waitiing a week, hopefully another week and ill have it. Looking for a extra mag for this thing. Tripp tells me they have one but they have to cut it down a 1/4 in. Sounds kinda chezzy to me. Where and what EXCATLY should i be looking for a extra mag for this thing. The guy a wilson was kinda of an assbut Tripp was really nice. So i dont know any help would be nice, thanks waiting ECO owner.

Welcome to the Forum.
Since the ECO is an Officer sized 1911, the solution would normally be pretty easy, a 7 round 1911 mag. I think the 9mm complicates that a little, and you may well be into a more specialized market. Maybe something to fit a Springfield EMP 9mm?
MecGar is one of the biggest magazine makers out there, maybe check out Chip McCormick as well? Chip is my personal choice in aftermarket 1911 mags.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Called chip, brownells, and Wilson. 1st 2 didnt have anything and checkmate is down. Wilson was the only one that said one would fit. 500 9c. Guy was real stick in the mud though. He said I haven't had a DW in here in years, so I don't know if he just wanted to get me off the phone. Tripp said the had one but had to cut her down a 1/4 in. Don't know if I like that idea or not. What do you guys think of the cutting part. MecGar I will look at thanks guys!!!

I was going to send you to Chip McCormick too, because of my personal opinion of their mags that I have for my .45 1911, but looking at their site, it doesn't appear they delve into the 9MM 1911's just yet.

Mec-Gar is a manufacturer, maybe try CDNN for retail availability.
I live in the historic firearms center of America.
Mec-Gar is two miles from home, Lyman is a little closer. Stag Arms 20 minutes, Colt in Hartford, S&W half an hour away. USFA and Charter Arms within 30 miles, I used to drive past Marlin every day. Both High Standard plants (Hamden and East Hartford) were nearby, and of course, Monson and Palmer are within an hour.
Now the haters want to take everything away!

I run Metalforms, almost exclusively. Check the big box stores- many have the 9mm in stock. http://www.cdnninvestments.com/of9mm7rdstma.html

Steve ct that would be pretty nice to be so close to those fine companies. Must be nice for parts, economy and employment in that area. Rwsem are you running a Eco and if so so do they sit flush. Thanks for the help guys. You guys have been really helpful. Seems like there are a lot of A-holes in this industry. Thanks!

I do not have an ECO, only Pointmans at this time.
This may be useful to you as well, if you aren't already there:

Give a call to Dan Wesson once they get back in operation in a few months. They may be able to sell you some direct. I can tell you that the ECO uses the same mags as the CCO but the CCO is not available in 9mm.

- Yes it does. The reason I want to get some extra mags is so I can load up the mags for a few days to set the spring. That way when I get it I can just go to the range instead of loading up the mags that come with it and waiting a few days for the stock spring to set. still have no leads on extra mags, really sucks.

I've never done the spring conditioning you mention. I just shot my ECO for the first time a few weeks ago and all I did was load and shoot. I had on feed problems, 100% and accurate too. I did notice that I was shooting low, but I think that was me not the gun. One I got my POA corrected I was hitting nice tight groups. I know you will like the ECO.

I heard that it is a good idea to load up the mag for a few day to let the spring set up a little. Maybe ill just go throw some down range if you didnt have any problems with the mags. Just wanted to eliminate any potential for errors. Any else heard of this practice before and is it good for "break in" for a wepon/mag?

I've always heard to not leave a mag loaded for a long time as it can weaken the spring. Don't know how true that is either, but thats what I was always told. Go shoot your ECO, you'll like it!

I have seen this subject on many forums over the years, the universal opinion that I have seen expressed is that there is virtually no problem leaving good quality magazines loaded continuously for very long (years) periods of time. I leave magazines loaded for weeks and months for two of my guns, and have never had a problem. Several well used magazines of mine have sat loaded for up to a year and functioned perfectly when fired. The compression/decompression of the springs from shooting is what "wears" on a magazine.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

So Steve you think it's a good practice to load up the mags for a few days. I also bought two mags. One from Fusion Firearms, http://www.fusionfirearms.com/. Bob owns this shop and operated DW for many years. The other was from Thunder Mountain Custom, http://shop.1911parts.com/main.sc. Figured I'd try two different places to see if results very. Thanks to everyone for the help!

My personal knowledge is that magazines left loaded for up to several months are not a problem. Before going to the range I will load them all and have no concern.

Finally got her yesterday. My CPL came in the mail. Called the place that was doing the backround check to see if they would stop the check and just re-do the paper work for the CPL. The guy behind the counter said he would refund my money but "we are not going to turn around and sell it to you" Called the manager to get my money back and he said he would fix it and make everything ok. Paperwork took 10 mins and I was walking out with my new Dan Wesson ECO! took her out yesterday and was great. So instead of having extra mags and ammo with no gun. I have gun no ammo and none of the extra mags I ordered.
