Hello there everyone. My online alias is HooManGoo, something i invented at random one day, dont ask me how. im 21 years old, but consider myself "old school"…i have an easier time BS'in to old timers about guns and trucks, than with people my own age. i live in central Pennsylvania, and have been an avid shooter and hunter since i was old enough to shoulder my first .22, and have never looked back. i enjoy light gunsmithing and stock refinishing, and just wasting days at the range! now, please allow me to introduce you to my new buddy i met yesterday…his name is DAN WESSON!
picked this guy up yesterday, traded a well worn model 700 for it (Quite well worn, to put it more accurately) that i paid 200 bucks for. this is the first handgun i have actually owned, and have been long awaiting the day. Ive heard great things about these weapons, and am hoping to hear i made a good deal for it. It is a .357 mag w/ 8 in bbl, no others barrels unfortunately. It is Monson made, which i hear is a big plus, and judging by the sights it would be a model 15, correct? Has Burris mounts, leupold rings and a 2x leupold scope. nice tight lockup, headspace looks good and overall is in almost perfect shape. So let me know guys, how did i do?

First WELCOME...
Second ..you pretty much stole it. You actually whats called a model 15-2. Generally they run $400 -$500, for nice 6" version.
Now you need to load it up and send us a range report. I think you will find it a real pleasure to shoot. Barrels, barrel tools, and grips are all available right here! Lots good fun here.
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.
4 Monson Model 15's
1 Palmer FB 15
1 Rossi 357 Model 92 (lever)
1 CZ 75B

Well thank you very much for the welcome Pinetor, and im glad to hear i didnt get shafted! I figured the scope was worth damn near what i paid for the rifle, but was unsure of the model of the gun… i have heard the 14's were harder to find barrels for, and actually the serial number is 142xxx. had me thinking it was a model 14-2.
To add to my original post, i look forward to meeting everyone on here, and learning as much as i can. My father was a gunsmith, and unfortunately passed on when i was almost 17. Upon his death, the landlord of our house took, along with our rifles and shotguns, everything from the house. Fishing equipment, clothes, sentimental things from my childhood, and things from my fathers childhood also. i was too young to do much about it, and also had no proof of ever owning the guns being as they were long guns and were not registered. So now im starting to try to build up a collection, and carry on in his stead .I learned alot from him, but not near as much as id like to have. So i aspire to be as knowledgeable as he was one day, and carry on the family tradition.
One question, i know the forum is dedicated to dan wesson, but is it frowned upon to talk about and share other types of firearms here? Just want to be respectful of the forum and members!

Thank you all for the warm welcome, and im glad to hear i got a good deal.. Kind of miss the remington though... .308 BDL bull barrel with a nice (but thoroughly dinged up) laminate stock. there was some medium to heavy pitting on the barrel and the bore left much to be desired. Dont know why people think that a gun sitting in the closet untouched for fifteen years wont rust . SO i figured id send her down the road before it got to the point where there was no value left at all.
Ill be trying my hand at hunting with the dan this year. Gonna search the forum for advice on hunting ammunition choice for a .357. thinking 158 gr XTP's
