I'm quite happy with both my DW purchase and then finding this forum as well. I do have a few questions, I will search around here first and see what I can find out on me own. My DW was my first hand gun purchase - I saw it at the shop, looked it over, and knew I had to have it. While all my friends are into their 1911's and fancy semis, I have always liked revolvers and I am very impressed thus far with my Dan Wesson.
My DW came with a 10" and 8" barrel, and I knew someone that had a 6" barrel as well that I picked up at a decent price. All of them shoot well and the removable barrel sure makes cleaning easy.
I'll see you around, looking forward to reading up on this wonderful revolver.
Cheers,
Ian

I wish that was left over change as this one was a little higher than my initial budget; such is the case often with my gun purchases, though. My wife is very understanding.
I did not know much about these guns when I bought the 6" and was unaware of the different types available. Nonetheless, I wanted a 6" and the price was right, it is in great shape.
I'm looking around and trying to find a manual somewhere, are there links on here? I haven't touched the set screw on the trigger but curiousity is getting to me.

That 6" will work fine, the only issue might be that you'll have to adjust the rear sights (or at least your POA).

Thanks gents. I have learned that the trigger set screw means I have an early model DW and there is no mention of it on that manual. Can someone direct me to a thread that discusses how to set or adjust it properly? Also, does anyone make trigger shoes for the DW 15?
I've already discovered LB Grips and sent an email fro a couple grips. I need to stay off forums, or more like it, my wallet needs to be far far away.

That is the over travel screw. If you start having trouble with trigger hangs screw it out a little at a time to stop the hangs. then you can back it out 1/8 at a time til you get the break you want at hammer fall off. make sense..

Yes, that makes sense - thank you. There doesn't seem to be a way to find out dates for manufacturing but then I see one fellow posting dates quite often. Where would I be able to look up my serial #, if anywhere that is?
PM me for S/N info, or post it in this Topic and "x" the last digit if you wish.
Or you can look it up Here

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

That link does not work for me - do I need to be a paid member?
PM sent, Steve. Thank you.
Ole Dog - thanks as well for the info. I'll leave the screw alone. Not many of these are available up north here, which means these command a pretty penny. It was more expensive than a new Ruger GP100, which is what I went into the store to buy in the first place.

Ian- Got your PM
That is either late 1977 or early 1978.
Unless you have a lot of slop in the trigger (continues to pull back well beyond the hammer dropping) I'd not adjust it. It is meant to allow just enough trigger pull to fire and then stop rearward travel.

Steve - thank you for that info. The trigger is fine as is, so I shall leave it alone. I cam across a thread about polishing up the inside, I may tear this apart in the summer when it is warmer and I can work outside in my gazebo. https://www.danwessonforum.com/forum/reloading/tuning-up-your-15-2-the-average-joe-method/
Ron - I ordered new sights and set screws from Eric last week already. He was great to deal with, his site doesn't allow Canadians to register so I emailed him and he helped me order directly. Great service.
Trying to find parts (a new rear site, possibly new springs, and grips) but finding people that will mail to Canada is difficult; most vendors don't want to worry about potential ITAR parts, even though I want items that aren't covered by those guidelines.
