Thanks for the welcome guys and somewhat crappy pics are up. Sadly has a typical rookie scratch that I haven't tried to polish out yet.. and I hate the grips though comfortable to shoot with them.. Either grabbing some factory grips or a set of VZ's, in the meantime thinking on throwing a set of colt grips to get me by..

I think a couple of guys here have used Sarge's for grips, they really have some beautiful stuff:

Maybe someday our resident Grip Master will test the 1911 waters
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I'm going to suggest Esmeralda for grips. http://www.esmeralda.cc/ she does beautiful work and her site shows each grip pair in a large pic and if you click on the grip you will get an even larger pic. We buy all of our 1911 grips from her.
Her customer service is also outstanding.

Actually, I was going to recommend Esmeralda (purely as a spectator, no personal knowledge) and sidetracked when I came across Sarge's in a google search.
While my guess is that you are looking for wood grips, my son got me a set of personalized Alumagrips for my birthday a few years ago;

The black really pops on a stainless gun

Steve CT - LOL, I actually thought about having the guns cocked and locked when I posted the photo and chuckled to myself. You're so right!!!!
But, for the record, I'm not a 1911 guy, dyed in the wool DA revolver man. Still if you're going to have a 1911... might as well be a DW!
