Greetings from Dallas! My name is Jose Badillo. I purchased my first handgun about a month ago, a Monson made, Model 14-2 Dan Wesson .357 revolver. I got it for $200 from my best friend's family friend. When I first bought it, it looked neglected, having rust in the barrel, inside the cylinder, on other small areas, and some damage on the wooden grip. I bought a cleaning kit, and oils, and hoped the rust would come off…it ended up being surface rust. big-grin I bought a locking carrying case, a speed loader, and snap caps the day after I bought it to test it's functionality. It had a sticky trigger, but a good cleaning after taking off the side plate got everything back in order. I then bought an EWK barrel wrench from Brownell's, a feeler gauge at AutoZone, and ordered some rounds from weaponsworld to adjust the barrel and take it to the range. I visited a gun show two weeks ago to look for parts. I only left with a Hogue grip and a trigger lock. It took me a while to actually get it out to the range, I took it just last week, but it shoots great! I shot both .38special and .357magnum rounds and loved it.

Well, enough ranting. Here are some pictures. I apologize if they're huge.

Looks like your 14-2 finally found someone who will give it the care & attention it deserves. Way to go & welcome to thedwf-sign

It looks like someone used that wood grip to drive nails, at some point.frown

Yes, it does seem like they used the gun as a hammer at one point. Its sad, but props to them for improvising. Haha.

Welcome to DWF, there's nothing wrong with that 14-2 that some love won't fix up just fine.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Those scratches are from the ejector someone let the cylinder flop closed with it ejecting!  see them on many of these out here!  cool-pics

Well, since you asked:

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome! Good job rescuing that one. It makes a great first Dan Wesson.
