Hello everyone,

I am just thrilled to find a forum devoted to these revolvers. I just picked up a Model 15 and have been busily accessorizing it with barrels, sights, grips, etc.  These revolvers are just really fun to tinker with.

I did have one question though.  I have been trying to give the revolver a very thorough cleaning as it was filled with gunk and I cannot get the cylinder to release from the crane.  The ejector rod and ejector star come out fine, but the small bearing the cylinder revolves around just will not release and it binds the gun up tighter than a drum.  Have any of you experienced this and if so, how did you resolve it?  IMG_2605.jpg

Thanks!

Look up the Average Joe Tune Up thread.  I think you'll find everything you need there.

Try to let the solvent do the work for you before you start banging away at it with a rubber or plastic mallet. The years of gunk will take some time to dissolve. Be patient.

Thank you for the welcome.  I did manage to get the cylinder to release from the crane.  I remembered an old trick from a C&R collector.  I placed the cylinder in a plastic bag and set it on the dash of my car facing direct sunlight, that seemed to soften the old grease up.  Once warm, I spun the cylinder and slowly pulled until it came off.  Then it was just a matter of cleaning, degreasing, and using a better quality oil.  If ir were summer, I doubt I would have had to even work the cylinder at all!
