Hi, my first wheel gun was a DW bought in 1973 I think its a 14-2 the grips just have a small W on it not a DW paid $89 in the box, one question well maybe two, I have lost my wrench during moving it was the old type (not the ones with a handle) do the newer ones work on my gun also will the vented barrel fit it ?           Thanks for any info.

Welcome to the DWF.

You can get a new, best quality wrench from EWK Arms.  See the right hand column.  ----->>>

The V B/A will fit, but if you do have a 14-2 (fixed rear sight) you will also want to get the EWK 14-2>15-2 conversion front sights, otherwise POA/POI will be off.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I suspect you have a model 14 with the porkchop shroud. This is based on the purchase date and serial no. I don't think they made vented porkchop shrouds. There was a homemade porkchop on GunBroker where someone welded an extension onto a model 14-2 8"  shroud to produce a previously nonexistant 8" porkchop. I skilled gunsmith could do it.

My barrel nut is not exposed and all sights are fixed with a 5 3/4 in. barrel, after looking around I think my pistol is a porkchop.

Welcome neighbor. What parts of GA do you hail from. I am about 30 mi west of Augusta. Yea you will need a Chop shroud so watch the auction sites, EWK has the best wrench.
