Greetings from South Georgia. I have a stainless .44 mag I picked up while stationed overseas. It's a pistol pac, 4 barrels, two grips, belt buckle with a Monson address. The weird thing about it is I have two 8" barrels and two 6" barrels. One of each length is ported.
The guy I traded for it said the reason it didn't have the regular barrel selection was the 21/2" barrels were illegal in Europe, but I don't know. I love the design and quality of the pistol though.
I have one problem; the cylinder does not rotate every time the action is cycled. Is that because the hand needs to be replaced? Is that a big deal to get repaired? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard from Wisc. Four barrels two ported two not. My 44 only came with one ported 6 in and I'm waiting to upgrade when one is available. I love to feel the power of these magnums. Once again welcome aboard. Your cycling problem might be just a cleaning issue or maybe a spring is out of place. Others more knowledgeable than myself Will soon come round.

Welcome to the forum. First thing to do is loosen the grip screw and then try to cycle in SA and DA. If that fixes your issue, you need a shorter grip screw or a washer. 8 times out of 10, this is the issue.

Welcome to the forum. I belive your 44 pac is correct, Monson 44 pacs came with 6 and 8" barrel assemblies, and often with a ported and unported barrel for each. Dan Wesson did not make 2 1/2" barrels for the 44. Are you saying that sometimes the cylinder does not advance at all? Quite possibly needs a good cleaning inside. The hand might just be sticking.

All Monson .44 barrel assemblies came with "ported" shrouds for 4", 6", and 8". The 10" shrouds were never ported. There were no 2-1/2 inch BA's for the .44.
The customer then had the choice of either a ported barrel or a non-ported barrel or both. I have completed my PP with both ported and non-ported barrels in 4", 6", and 8".
I tried shooting the ported 6" barrel and found no noticeable difference except that it then became nearly impossible to clean up the mess inside the shroud. A 12ga. bronze barrel brush works if you haven't shot too many rounds since the last cleaning. Never , ever shoot lead bullets through the ported barrels unless your purpose is to weld the barrel to the shroud permanently.
Hope this helps some.

Welcome to the forum. If loosening the grip screw does not fix the problem someone here will figure it out. One more thing to rule out is if one or two chambers are too proud and rubbing on the forcing cone. If this is the case, increase the gap .001" at a time. When setting the gap do not force the shim in as that pushes the cylinder back against the dedent ball amd spring and gives a false measurement. Forget you have the ported barrels. Virtually nobody uses them.If you come across a 4" shroud, buy it even if the price is high. They are fun to shoot and everyone is searching for them.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like the guys have given you some good advice to resolve your issue!JJ, non ported barrels can be gotten from EWK or directly from Dan Wesson in Norwich.
Jody, I've been looking for a 744 4" stainless barrel online at CZ-USA and EWK and they both say "out of stock". I've been on a e-mail me when in stock list for a few months now.
Is there some where else I can go - Norwich maybe and do you have the website?

Ole Dog is right, be patient I am sure EWK Arms will be making some more after a while. Or if you want to contact Norwich, look under FAQ's in the header on this page, click on Where can I order parts? the Norwich contact info is listed. You want to deal with those nice folks directly and not CZ-USA for Dan Wesson parts or service.
