No, not a fixed barrel, was just told it may be a model 15, not supermag. Apparently just the barrel is from a super.

Welcome.  I also commented on your other post; Model 15-2, Not a SM Barrel Shroud either- probably a laser etched nickname by a PO.  It's been refinished and the FO sight is aftermarket as well.  Nothing left to do other than go shoot the heck out of it and enjoy!

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Welcome to DWF, and thanks for the introduction.

Yes, that appears to be a 15-2, and a barrel from a SuperMag would not fit onto a 15-2.

1542xx on a 15-2 should be from 1978. It may be a function of the photo posted, but I would expect the finish to be brighter and more polished. Since the graphics on the barrel are not Dan Wesson original, and the entire gun looks to be the same finish, it's possible that this gun has been aftermarket refinished, possibly CeraKote?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Exactly, and here is a visual comparison to further cement the deal. SM on the left...357 Mag on the right.

Seems the pistol was refinished at some point. I ditched the FO sight for a factory one. Also bought bought a 6" barrel for it.

Then out of nowhere another one popped up for sale so I had had to grab it. Bluing is nice and bright and bore it's very nice. Replaced both rubber grip with wood stocks. The heavy rib is sporting a hogue and the other has a grip I bought really rough and reshaped and am finishing with linseed oil. Added the DW medallions.tmp_22197-20160307_231848993312428.jpgImage Enlarger

Welcome (and back at you for yours to me) from scenic Montgomery, just up the road from you. Yeah, no doubt you have contracted DW fever (or flu, addiction, fixation, whatever name you choose).  It is a most interesting and highly contagious condition. Interesting how a disproportionate number folks from The Great State seem to fall victim to it.
