I'm a new member from Louisiana.  I have been hunting and using firearms most of my life.  Finally interested in purchasing a handgun larger than a .22 and while doing some research, I learned about Dan Wesson.  I'm interested in a .357 revolver.  Figured this would be a great place to learn some more information.

Darteres,

Glad you joined, this is a great sight and Dan Wesson's are great guns. I was in Louisiana once, and almost got  thrown in jail for fishing with out a license, had to get a bail bond mans to post bail for me, he took a out of state personal check from me and didn't charge me anything, good people in Louisiana.

Anyway, Welcome to the DWF... If you can't learn about a DW here....well....

Obviously, we love our DW's, it's great to know you're interested in buying one. My advice would be to look for a Model 15-2 or 715 (.357 in Blue or Stainless), they are the ones most commonly available.

If your funds allow, a Pistol Pack is the best way to buy your Dan Wesson, but you can also get extra barrels and all the miscellaneous goodies from a variety of sources.

By all means, review this:

/?page_id=3/revolvers/revolver-checkout-how-to-tell-if-a-particular-specimen-is-any-good/

It will help you check out the function of a revolver

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome to the DWF.  As suggested I would look for the adjustable sight model 15 or 715 as they are in more supply and offer various barrel changing variety.  I would probably not jump to hard at those in the pawn shop for anywhere near what they are asking.

Welcome aboard, great to have you with us, and this is the place to talk about Dans. So hang out for a while and we will have you infected with DWAS in no time flat. If DWAS has you wondering, check out FAQ's to the right.

Welcome

Thanks for the warm welcome!  I'm certainly glad that I came around.  This site is full of useful information.  I'll be reading in the background until I find the perfect first DW (and the funds so my wife won't kill me)!

When my daughter was 6 she wanted a cell phone, I told her when she had $600.00 she could get one, she had 6 kittens, and tried to sell them for $100.00 each, she had no takers, and no cell phone, but great thinking on her part.  I dont think anyone will take your cats for a 15-2, but good thinking.

Welcome – and buy a DW, you won't regret it!

I've been all over your state from Alexandria to Lake Charles…beautiful country…great food…only regret was spending a new year's eve in the Holiday Inn in Leesville….that was a long night!

If you're going to drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.

I can think of better and worse cities to spend new year's in Louisiana.  Thanks for all the welcomes!  I'll be getting a DW soon as my funds line up with the one I want being on sale for a price I'm happy with.

Welcome to our little part of the world. A 15 or 715 is an excellent choice...the only problem is finding one before the DW guys here get it.  poke I've been looking for one for awhile myself. Any time a Dan Wesson shows up on the internet, it's like this
