I'm a new member from Louisiana. I have been hunting and using firearms most of my life. Finally interested in purchasing a handgun larger than a .22 and while doing some research, I learned about Dan Wesson. I'm interested in a .357 revolver. Figured this would be a great place to learn some more information.

Darteres,
Glad you joined, this is a great sight and Dan Wesson's are great guns. I was in Louisiana once, and almost got thrown in jail for fishing with out a license, had to get a bail bond mans to post bail for me, he took a out of state personal check from me and didn't charge me anything, good people in Louisiana.

Obviously, we love our DW's, it's great to know you're interested in buying one. My advice would be to look for a Model 15-2 or 715 (.357 in Blue or Stainless), they are the ones most commonly available.
If your funds allow, a Pistol Pack is the best way to buy your Dan Wesson, but you can also get extra barrels and all the miscellaneous goodies from a variety of sources.
By all means, review this:

It will help you check out the function of a revolver
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

to the DWF. As suggested I would look for the adjustable sight model 15 or 715 as they are in more supply and offer various barrel changing variety. I would probably not jump to hard at those in the pawn shop for anywhere near what they are asking.

When my daughter was 6 she wanted a cell phone, I told her when she had $600.00 she could get one, she had 6 kittens, and tried to sell them for $100.00 each, she had no takers, and no cell phone, but great thinking on her part. I dont think anyone will take your cats for a 15-2, but good thinking.

Welcome – and buy a DW, you won't regret it!
I've been all over your state from Alexandria to Lake Charles…beautiful country…great food…only regret was spending a new year's eve in the Holiday Inn in Leesville….that was a long night!
If you're going to drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
