Welcome to the Forum, it seems to be growing by one or two people daily, lately. Do you own/shoot DW's currently?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I have always wanted a DW revolver as long as I can remember. Today, I saw one I couldn't resist. It's a model 15-2HV w/ a 6'' barrel. I couldn't believe that there wasn't a mark on it. Here's some pics:

Question: when was the serial # 138255 of this gun manufactured?

 Thanks!

All we can say for sure is that it was made after 1977 and before 1986.  Here is a link to the serial number information we have put togehter so far.  We are asking orginal owners to provide their serial number and the year they purchased it so we can piece the puzzle together.

You may not know but the Dan Wesson has went through several ownership changes, etc and when this happens the ATF takes the records.  So it is difficult to tell an exactly year.  Also they have been manufactured at 3 different location which will at least give you a range there.  The link above will provide all this info.

Thanks for joining the forum!

That pistol looks to be in great shape. Would you be willing to share about how much it cost? Don't mean to pry, just trying to get a feel for current selling prices.

I paid $350. for this DW. I was kind of apprehensive when I first saw how much he was asking for it, but like I said, I couldn't resist. He originally wanted $385, but I managed to talk him down to $350. I asked if that was as low as he'd go on it, and he said "no, but if I went any lower I'd have to hurt you". I figured that was the bottom line on this one!LaughingLaughingLaughing

It is great to be a new Dan Wesson admirer and even better to be able to talk to guys and gals who feel the same!  Recently took the opportunity to purchase what I think is an older DW; .357Mag model 14-S  serial # 21XXX which I believe designates it originally a police service revolver (fixed sight); it looks a little rough around the edges but internally it was well cared for and it fires like no other revolver I've owned.  Any ideas on it's age; I was told circa 1978.  Thanks and looking forward to being back!

As a follow up to my original post my .357 has the serial number 21899 with model 14-S below it. Maybe this will help in finding about it's history.
