Hello all..
I am not new to forums in general, but I am new to the particular one.
For several years, I shot IHMSA with Dan Wesson revolvers in the big bore production and revolver class. I also shot a DW in the .22 classes. A few years ago, my shooting buddy decided to give up the sport. We had to drive about 50 miles to the nearest range that held IHMSA matches, so when he quit, I pretty much did too.
Since that time, I have pretty much lost touch with the IHMSA crowd, and the guns they are shooting. So I don't know if the DW is still a contender in the game or not. I know I was always happy with my guns, and did fairly well with them. Though not an International class shooter, I did manage to get to the AA class.
When I retired from the Sheriff's Office after 25 years of service, my income dropped off sharply. So shooting fell off the priority list as well, and I faced with the prospect of having to sell a gun or two.
If I am permitted, I will post pictures of the guns I have and see if anyone can give me an idea of what a fair asking price might be. Who knows. If I can't sell the guns, I might just hang around and see if I can get back in the game later.
Thanks for listening..

Jim- Welcome to the Forum. We will be glad to help with any questions. You are encouraged to post all the pictures you would like, and if you choose to sell anything our "Want to Sell" Forum is available for Members, there are no fees involved.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The bottom one is the 22, right? 10" barrel? Is it single action only? I have little idea what it is really worth. I paid a little over $600 for my blued model 22 with an 8" VH shroud about two years. It is in excellent condition. The best shooting revolver I've got. There was a single action 22 for sale about the same time. It took a long time to sell, if it ever did, but IIRC he was asking $800 for it.
Is the top one a SM? Love the slotted shroud. What caliber? Looks like 357 but I'm not sure. Palmer or Norwich? I paid about $600 for my 357 SM in stainless and promptly put $300 into parts and repairs in it. (The prior owner did a bad trigger job on it.) One in working condition would have cost me at least $900. I recall one going for about $1,000.

Yes. The bottom gun is the .22 with a 10" barrel. And it is single action. It was built in Palmer.

The bottom gun is a .357 SM. It was built in Monson. The action on this gun is one of the nicest that I have ever shot. The trigger was worked by a Dan Wesson rep at one of the Ohio State matches that I shot several years ago. I can promise you that no parts will be needed to make this gun shoot.

I think you will be able to sell your unwanted Dans on here with no problem (of fees). That 22 is BEAUTIFUL, I'd be very interested if you decide to part with it.

I really hate to turn this thread into a "classified" thread. But I didn't want to post them there until I can get an idea of what they are worth. And a lot of forums do not allow classified ads to be posted without a price. Do any of you know where I can get an honest appraisal without having to pay a gun shop owner? Surely there has to be a site somewhere that lists prices.

Do a search on Gunbroker of recently completed auctions for similar or identical guns and you will get a good feel for where the real world market is at the time. Gun shops are going to quote blue book value and, for some reason, blue book doesn't assign much value to Dan Wessons. I'd buy Dans all day at blue book pricing, trouble is, there are precious few selling that cheap.
