Hello All!
Well I decided to join the ranks of you fine folks! I originally had no intentions of this but the truth is I saw my newest acquisition on Armslist and went down the Dan Wesson rabbit hole so to speak. I have owed other revolvers in the past but have since sold those to further other pursuits but last week I purchased a S&W Model 638 as a concealed carry option and while I was making that purchase I found myself drooling over the larger S&W and Ruger models. So I began a search to see what I might come across well I found my DW posted on Armslist as a Dan Wesson 715 .357 Magnum. I quickly found out that it wasn't a model 715 but still had no clue what it was but I couldn't shake it. So yesterday morning I became the proud new owner of this fine machine! From what I can decode from the resources here it is a Monson Manufactured Model 15-2HV produced sometime between 1990-1992. The revolver did not have the barrel wrench or even a case for that matter but it appears to be in good condition other than a cleaning and the barrel nut has been stripped. I am dropping it off Monday at a Smith to have the Barrel nut issue addressed as well as a tune up. Anyway long story and introduction short here is a picture of my DW.
Also a big thank you to everyone here for the vast knowledge!

Welcome to the Forum. That's a nice looking Dan. Congrats on a great score. Please be sure your Smith is experienced with DWs and don't let him do any filing or reshaping of parts - just clean and replace as needed.
This website has useful info for checking out a used revolver: http://thefiringline.com/Misc/library/Revolver-check.html
Enjoy your Dan and let us know how it shoots after you get it to the range.

Welcome to the DWF! The barrel assembly shown is a 4VH. So your first quest is to find a 2VH barrel assembly because that is obviously what you subliminally need.
Before sending it to a 'smith, consider the work yourself. We have threads on DWF that explain how to remove a stuck barrel and how to do a tune up. Look at the pinned topics in Reloading, Gunsmithing, and Gripmaking.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Thank you all for the welcome!
I did drop my newest off at the smith this afternoon and trust me when I say I trust him more then myself with this one!! Rwsem funny enough I was actually looking at a 2.5in slab side barrel from EWK earlier today when I ordered a new nut and wrench. It is on the shortlist for sure no doubt about it. I hope to have it back shortly and then it’s off to the range to see what it will do. I will be sure to let everyone know how it goes.
