Hi,

Just joined, Have 4 DW currently. 15-2, 744, 15-2 and a PM-XSS 45. Sure glad we got a place to get together. Great site...Thanks guys! I know, this thread is worthless without pics. I'll see if I can get some pics of "my babies". I wanted a 744 since about age 14, 52 now and just got it. All I thought it was...........and more!!!!

Welcome Steve to the dwf-sign. Glad to see another PA member. Yes we need some cool-pics when you can. We have a couple of PA members between Allentown and Harrisburg that I know of. This forum has so much to offer and your input is definitely welcome.

welcome What part of south central PA are you in?  I'm near Harrisburg, several others are from the Lancaster area.  Looking forward to some cool-pics.

Welcome to DWF! I'm pretty interested to find out more about the PM-XSS .45.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I'm in southern Bedford county ..  This is my PM-XSS, very small production run. Worked directly with Mr. Serva on this one.

That explains the "XSS" Model/Serial Number. What is it?

Is the 744 a High Polish?

The finish on the 744 is brushed, really want a hi polish though. It has the wreath and First Issue 140 that matches the serial # laser etched in the shroud. One of the first Norwich guns from the new plant under Mr. Serva I think?

Not sure what you mean....please explain!

Obviously a Pointman, I assume it's a .45ACP. The "X" normally was used for very limited production or experimental guns. The sights might be tritium of some type, and look a little uncommon for a DW, as does the contrasting blue grip safety

When you say you worked with Bob Serva, were you specifying custom items? do you know how many guns were made in the limited production run?

On your 744, if the stainless is in good shape without a lot of scratches and nicks, you can get great results just hand polishing with Mother's Mag Wheel Polish and some dry rags, but you would be altering a relatively unusual gun.

On the 45,

XS sight system, I wanted carry sights not target sights. This is my winter carry piece.

The XSS, was a model Bob was working on not too long before he sold it to CZ. It was to be a catalogued item, less than 100 produced as far as I know. Mine is SN XSS 0004. I was told SN # 0001 was in the showcase at Norwich.  I ran into a guy that  had XSS# 0003 on one of the forums. As far as the contrasting parts are concerned, it was a standard config on the piece as far as I know. And yes it is a Pointman as recorded by the name. PM-XSS. Some say its like the Panther. I wouldn't agree with that! Match barrel, Match trigger,Match bushing, hand fit slide. I love it, whats not to like. And almost shoots as good as my revolvers.

I would never alter my 744, I would buy a high polish gun though!

Steve,

If you look at this DW poster on ebay you can see the blued parts on their 45's  were offered, in fact the fourth pistol down on the left side IS the PM-XSS
