Greetings everyone. I’m a longtime S&W revolver fan and member of that forum, but I just picked up my first DW revolver (well, by the end of the week, I’ll have it). It’s an 8” 741 with s/n SC0018xx. From what I’ve been able to glean, it’s 1983-84 manufacture. I’m looking forward to shooting it, hopefully this weekend. I already have some S&W .41 Magnums, a 657 snubbie, a 57, and a 58, both 4 inchers. This is my first long tube .41 Magnum, and I’ll see how it does with the loads I worked up for my shorter barrel revolvers.

Welcome to the Dan Wesson Forum. I think you will love shooting your DW.
I have several brands of revolvers and my DWs will outshoot any of them. But they all want to go to the range when I go and I have to listen to the whining when I take the wrong ones and the others are left behind.

Nice those 41 magnums are rare! Did you get a barrel nut tool and feeler gauge with it? Would be a good idea to check the gap before firing it. I believe the 41 mag is a .006 please someone correct me if i'm wrong. If you need a barrel nut tool and feeler gauge EWK Arms has everything you would need. A large frame tool, a feeler gauge kit, and a .41 pilot to go into the tool. If you got one with the gun please disregard this info!

I won’t actually have it in hand until Friday because I have to drive to the other side of the state to pick it up. He is including some tools with it. From the picture, it looks like a frame wrench, and the other tools are in boxes, so I’m not sure what they contain. This is my first foray into the world of DW revolvers, and I’m betting it won’t be my last! At last count, I have 20 something S&W revolvers, from early 20th century stuff, like a 1917 .45ACP, a .32-20 fourth change, a pre-war M&P .38 all the way up to a 640-1 pro and a bunch of P&R stuff in between.
From what I’m seeing and hearing, the .41 Mag barrels in shorter lengths are pretty hard to come by.

Finally picked it up yesterday afternoon. It’s a beauty! And what a solid piece of marvelous mechanical ingenuity. I’ve never actually handled a DW revolver, so I’m doing a lot of comparisons to my S&W’s. Since this is the introduction section of the forum, I’ll post a proper write up on it in the appropriate section.
