Glad to be a member here. A little background. I grew up with guns as we were subsistence farmers and kept game in the freezer to supplant what we grew and raised. Used to shoot muzzle loading pistol and bench rest rifle contests. Started reloading 44 mag for 100 yard bullseye in my 30s, but drifted away from shooting sports for years.
My wife inherited a nice little Smith model 36, so I looked at new ammo prices (!) bought some dies for my old press and ran a batch. Still had powder and primers, etc. and ordered some bullets and brass on line. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed shooting and reloading.
So... I went to a small gun show looking for some wadcutters and happened to see a really nice Dan .357 for $450. I loved the look and feel, and remembered from back in the day Dan's had a reputation as a really accurate revolver. Not being an impulse buyer, I handed it back to the dealer. I started researching when I returned home, and wish I had just bought it. I lost his card, but thought, "No problem.. I'll find him at another gun show, or I'll find another." Wrong. Haven't had a sniff of a Dan at two gun shows since.
Shootist's tutorial on tuning up a Dan is what sold me. I have a small machine shop, and am a pretty serious gear head. Gotta have a Dan!
I'd like to find a decent .357 pistol pack...

Welcome to DWF. That "non-buyers remorse" sucks, I've suffered that more than once. The most memorable one was a DW CBOB a couple of years ago at $750, I looked several times, by the time I was ready, it was gone.
OTOH, I did stumble across a Model 22, and after I drove around the block, agonizing over whether to buy or not, I went back and got a really nice deal.
Gotta do what's right for you, know what you really want, and be ready and able to do the deal when it come up, AND is the right deal for you.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome to the Forum, now you know if you see a nice Dan " Buy it" they are hardly seen at gun shows and it takes a constant eye on auction sites, gun shows, pawn shops and local gun shops to find nice ones. Wish I had a Pack to sell you sold a real nice one a month ago.
Keep looking, you will find one.

Thanks, Ron.. I'll do that when I get back from a motorcycle trip down into Arkansas. Wouldn't want someone to post the deal of the century when I'm gone..
Leaving in the morning. This retirement job is the best I've ever had..

You will find in short order that "Gotta have a Dan", will quickly become "Gotta have ANOTHER Dan"!
Welcome to the land of Dan.
To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:
if you find one...what's your plan?

Welcome Chuck. Just recently joined myself. They are correct when they say once you buy one Dan you will be on the look out of another, then another, and............well. I missed my opportunity many years ago and picked up my first a month ago. I have an entirely new fondness for shooting now. I am spoiled. In the past 7 years I only recall finding one Dan aside from the three I found at Tulsa and two of those were banged up pretty good, one followed me home.
