I have been visiting the sight for awhile and thought I better join to let you know how much I appreciate all the great topics you guys cover. This is one of the most knowledgeable and friendly sites on the web.
I got my Dan Wesson by accident when I started hunting with a crossbow a couple of years ago. I am a long-time hunter but had'nt started early enough for archery to be interesting. Then, when Michigan adopted crossbow huntiing for those of us over 50 (yes I qualify) I knew I could get a couple more months of hunting in so I bought a crossbow. I was so excited that I came home and showed my wife all the bells and whistles. She looked at me very seriously and said "so when are you getting your handgun?" Well, you could have floored me with a feather. I asked her where did that come from?
She said she hadn't worried about me in the woods for regular rifle season or even bird season but she wasn't comfortable with me out in the woods in the UP without some kind of protection. She pointed out the obvious reasons like bears, wolves, coyotes and the occasional lion. She didn't have to say any more since I had been looking at handguns for a couple of years and was only looking for an excuse. I had decided on a wheelgun for quite a few different reasons that most of you already know so I started talking to some friends and one of them told me about this gun he had that he bought for hunting in 1979 but hadn't used it much in the last 20 years and he would be willing to sell it to me.
It turned out to be Dan Wesson .357 Model 15-2 with an 8" VH barrell. I didn't know anything about these guns at the time but should have gotten a hint when I went to drop off the registration at the local police department and the lady sargent looked at it and said "Oh, you got a Dan Wesson! Congratulations." Anyway, I'll post some pictures and show you the evolution to concealed carry in another post. Thanks again for being there for all the DW fans.

Welcome to the forum! My dad was from the UP and I spent most summers there. In fact I spent two years at MTU and bought my first firearm at a gun shop in Houghton In 1979. It was of course a DW. I learned to hunt and fish in the UP And miss visiting. I love hunting with my DW and I am sure you will as well.

Welcome to the forum. I'm originally from the Detroit area and spent allot of time in the UP. Gorgeous country. Well, except for the 1 week of spring, 2 weeks of fall and 9 months of winter!
To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:
if you find one...what's your plan?

Thanks for the kind welcome. Yes, the 9 months of winter and 3 months of bad skiing can get a little boring but the 2 weeks of summer are GREAT!!!!!!!
I shouldn't try to make it sound too bad. I love living up here and wouldn't trade it for mudslides, tornados, hurricanes, floods, etc. Oh yes, buy a good snowblower.
