Big thanks already to DA....64 for helping me out.
I have a DW 44 mag with a pile of barrels. I've never changed out from the 6" that was on the gun when I got it. It's accurate as hell - even in my crummy shooting hands. It's my favorite pistol by far.
Moved to Vancouver from San Diego. Handgun laws here are weird. No pistol shooting ANYWHERE but the range. No handguns allowed in the bush. And, only allowed to transport between home (or where it's stored) and the range - and you MUST be a member of a range in order to own a handgun. Because of this - I may decide to sell my baby. No sense in having it if I can't use it...
Long guns are much less restricted and the rules are not unreasonable in my opinion.
Anyway, thanks again for the help from DA....64. I'll post up more pics and info on my toy soon.

Hey, slowboater...you think those rules are tough, don't take your slowboat to China! Yuk...yuk...yuk. (I hope you are old enough to appreciate a terrible pun hidden deep within the truth.)
Seriously, I am guessing the laws you mention are city laws rather than provincial or national? Hard to imagine prowling the wilds of BC without.

Welcome to the DWF.
Thanks for all the good cheer.
NOPE - the laws are NATIONAL. No handguns allowed ANYWHERE other than the range. No transport except between home (where securely stored) and range. No stopping for milk and eggs on the drive - strictly forbidden. It's total BS to a 'merican like me. But, thems the rules.

You can stop at places within reason, it is not as strict as you state and there is case law to support that you can stop and eat, etc. - many people travel for days with their handguns to competitions all over the country. Some people get permission to carry a pistol in the bush, but that is generally for trappers and prospectors. But otherwise, yes, handguns here in Canada are range toys.
I may be interested in that .44 when you feel it is time to find a new home, I am just 45 minutes north of you.
