Hi Andrew and welcome to the forum. Glad you you found us. Thanks for stopping by the New Members section and introducing yourself. We've had lots of lively discussion about the new 715 but few of us have seen, much less shot one. We'll be anxious to get a range report from you after you get that bad out for a wok out. Oh, and fair warning.......we REALLY like

if you find one...what's your plan?

Welcome to DWF, I was initially pretty negative on the new 715, but I think the new "top of shroud" profile is perfect. I'm starting to come around on the reality of pricing from the old days (and I'm OLD) and current market, especially on the "Pistol Pack"
And, since nobody else did this
Once you get it

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thank you all for the welcome!
Just a little more info on the purchase. I received some unexpected funds, it was coming up on my birthday, and more importantly I received the go ahead from the wife to purchase another firearm. 🙂
I spent some time polling friends and other shooters, asking them what they would buy if they had a little extra. I got every suggestion...1911, AR-15, Trap gun, when the owner of my LGS said "You don't have a wheel gun, why not get one? Everyone needs a good revolver."
So, after weeks of research I had narrowed it down to a Ruger GP100, Smith 686 and the 715. I had pretty much given up on the 715 as everyone I talked to said "Good Luck, get on the waiting list".
Last Sunday my wife and I drove around and I handled the Ruger and Smith and had decided on the Ruger, so I set to looking on the interwebs to see who had the best deal.
While searching, I happened to do an "Armslist" search for Dan Wesson, and found a dealer in SC selling a 715 Blem. I contacted them and had them send me pics of the blemish...small dimple on the frame just above the trigger. Otherwise new and fully mechanically sound and warrantied. Asking price of $899 🙂
I know it's blemished, and that probably reduces the value substantially, but I couldn't pass it up considering it was just a little more than my LGS wanted for their GP-100. Do I deserve to be flamed?
I asked them to send me closeups of the blemish...barely visible. Gave them my credit card number and contacted my FFL about shipping. I'm hoping it gets here Friday or Saturday...when it does I'll post a bunch of pics!

Absolutely no flames! I began seeing the new 715 a couple of years ago in local shops, and jumped pretty ugly on the pricing, which was a mistake on my part.
The "blem" does not affect how it shoots, and it's likely never going to be noticeable to anyone.
$899+ costs to get it to you is pretty good, and longtime listeners here will be surprised to see me say that.
You done good!
btw-I know a little of Wisconsin, Marinette especially from my college days, I had a roommate at Michigan State from Menominee, MI. We did a lot of drinking at Lolli's, pitchers of Rum & Coke. It was a long way to drive for drinks, but we were young!
And when my wife and I lived in Iowa, we vacationed in the Dells.

I got the call from the LGS that my 715 came in this afternoon. 10 minutes later I held her for the first time.
All I can say is wow. Really just, wow. Fit and finish is what would be expected from a high end revolver. Everything looks and feels very solid and buttery smooth. Satin Stainless is now my favorite finish on a firearm. The blemish? A small nick in the UNDERSIDE of the frame in the trigger housing area. I had to look twice to see it, and I had a scan showing where it was. I was concerned, now I'm relieved.
The grip is perfect for my medium/large hands. It allows for my thumbs forward grip without worrying about flames from the cylinder burning my fingers off.
Sights are dark, and I have a hiviz red plastic insert replacement front coming this week. I don't want to paint the original so I'll just replace it.
Trigger pull is incredible. I can't describe how smooth and SHORT the double action is. I mean "Holy Crap" short. It's the one thing all 6 who shot it mentioned. They had a Ruger GP100 for comparison, and there is none. The DW is about half the pull of the Ruger, and much smoother, no stacking at all. Single action? Cock the hammer, put your finger on the trigger and just think about pulling. Bang. Seriously, there is no take up, no creep, just apply a little pressure and "snick", bang. I've shot comp tuned 1911s, and recently the SigSauer Legion (which has the best stock trigger I've felt) and this thing puts them to shame. I now know what you wheel gun guys like about these things. 🙂
Shooting is a dream. I shot from 10 yards, indoors. Right target was 6 38 Specials. Sights need some adjusting, but I walked it into the center. This is a revolver for people afraid of recoil. .38s felt like .22lr stingers. The front sight almost doesn't leave the aim point.
Left target was 6 .357 rounds. First shot was low and left from me anticipating the recoil. Recoil? What recoil. I've shot my buddies Ruger SP101 and it bucks like a bronc. This thing shoots .357 like a 9mm, not the scary muzzle monster we're conditioned to expect.
All in all, this is a BEAUTIFUL revolver. Well made, soft shooting, more accurate than I'll ever be. I'm in love. 🙂

Excellent! I predict a large flux in your ammo inventory (on the down side). Better start looking for deals now.

That sounds like the SA trigger pull on my 375 SM, there's been more than once where I accidentally touched off a round because I brushed the trigger with my finger. I am SUPER careful to have the business end of that gun pointed downrange whenever I cock the hammer.
Congrats on landing your first DW, it looks (and sounds) like a real beauty!
