Hey guys. Ive been thinking about picking up a Dan Wesson Model 44 that my local gunshop has. Figured I would drop in and introduce myself as this site has been of much help. Its a Palmer made 6in barrel with a serial number of B00134x. It has the orig box, papers and 2 sets of grips (one orig wood and one houge). Hes asking $399. I was hoping it was a Monson but this thing is real nice. I had to ask him if it was ever used. Havent measured the gap but everything seems tight. Its identical to this one: http://gunbroker.com/Auction/V.....=131212608
My stepdad has the model 15 6in barrel and its a darned good shooter.
Awesome DW forum btw. Wish there was more info on these but looks like a lot of data was lost with the changes of ownership.

First things first. to the DWF! Glad you have found our site helpful and informative. IMHO for $399.00 even if it is Palmer sounds like a nice deal on a VH44 with all the extras. I enjoy the 44 cal with the VH6 barrel. Very cool name "Clobbersaurus" Related to Tyranna? Glad you dropped in and if you have been visiting very long you'll know that after the purchase we need Pictures! Lots of Pictures!

Jay, I think that looks like a nice deal. Depending on your experience level with revolvers, take a look here
for help in checking out a revolver for function. I still refer to this before I buy to make sure I check everything I can.
BTW, I'll join in with . Whereabouts in NY, we might be sort of neighbors.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Im in Middletown NY. Weird.
Thanks for the link. The cylinder is tight. Didnt try the credit card gap check tho. Def worth checking out. I told myself that the next pistol I would get would be the Desert Eagle .50. No practial reason, just be cool to have. I want a 44 and the shop has the DE .44 mag and this DW. The DW is is super nice and cheap. The DE is 900.00 and nice too but that will hurt my bank account BIG TIME as I recently got a SA EMP9 and a '69 Browning HiPower.

Jay-
I sort of know Middletown NY, passed thru a number of times on trips back home to MI. I have no direct experience with Palmers, the guys here that have them are all pretty happy with them. When I bought my Monson 744, there was a Palmer 744 available also, the Monson just looked to be in better shape. $500 difference in price is a LOT of ammunition, or another gun.
SA EMP is very nice, I've shot one a couple times, and a '69 High Power is just , and very high on my "must have hit parade"
Do the $399 DW, it sounds like a good deal.
