I joined the forum sometime ago. The revolver has languished in the safe until just recently. I removed the 8" VH and put on the 4" VH. Might use it for IDPA and ICORE.
I chamfered the chambers, and since I had slicked up the action long ago, not much else was needed.
There are some very active clubs relatively close and since I am semiretired from cowboy, I thought I would add some diversity to this old life.
I have a few questions so I will look for the appropriate sections.

Hey folks. Thanks for the reception.
Mike, I shoot Ruger Rimfire and PCCA at Caswell. Live in McLeansville which is between Greensboro and Burlington. I hope to get the DW in shape for IDPA.
I posted a couple of questions on the gunsmithing site.
I will ask the questions here if it os ok.
I realize most of us hold the DW sacred but............has anyone drilled and tapped the sideplate to retain the crane/cylinder assembly?
I asked about dimensions about the trigger but that has been resolved. Ordered a spring pak from Wolf yesterday. The inetrior parts are polished where necessary and it feels very smooth. Don't mind the stacking of the trigger spring.
Here is something interesting. Caswell Ranch has started a new game. It requires a 3" or less barrel in revolver and semi. I have the four inch and the eight inch.
Years and years ago while on a hunting trip in the mountains of WV, the cabin caught fire and I lost a DW with a four inch VH. I e-mailed the guy who advertises here and we may work out a deal on the old DW for some work. Stuff happens.

I assume that you mean installing a bolt in place of what appears to be your missing cylinder stop on the side plate? I haven't heard of anyone doing that, but I suppose it's not impossible.
Great looking 15-2, thanks for sharing the

Since I intend to shoot it a lot, I have to provide maintenance. I would not prefer to remove the side plate every time I clean the crane/cylinder assembly. I would think you could install a dead head screw that would replace the C clip that holds the crane assembly. Like a Smith but on the left side.

The C clip is a very effective method of securing the crane/yoke. Unless you plan on shooting an excessive amount of ammo through it... and I mean excessive, you won't need to pull the sideplate that often.
If this is a range gun, it will stay clean longer than you think. If it is going on the trail/woods/canoe, etc it will require more maintenance.
If this is a concern, you can use a heavier lube/grease on the crane to seal off the action from that end.
