Hey y'all.........name is Greg, from San Antonio, TEXAS! I, like most, enjoy my guns, hunting and spending as much time as I can in the brush. Just joined the forum after lurking for a while. Man you fellers sure do have a wealth of knowledge about these Dan Wesson revolvers!!! I picked up my 1st ever Dan Wesson revolver about a month ago. I now know it's a model 15-2H with the 6 in. barrel, serial# 2628**. It did not come as a pac, nor did it have the barrel nut tool or gauge. It does have some rust/ slight pitting but it is not too bad. Maaaaaaaaaaaaan is it a shooter, this thing makes me look like I know what I'm doing. Picked it up at a pawn shop for $300, felt that was a fair price. Plus, when I picked it up...... I had to have it! I look forward to gaining some knowledge from y'all and promise to TRY and keep the dumb questions to a minimum. Thanks for having me y'all!!!

Welcome to DWF, and thanks for introducing yourself. Don't worry, there are very few "dumb" questions. Here's a few easy answers up front:
Barrel Tool- EWK Arms, right hand sidebar on DWF
Grips- LB Custom, same place, but be prepared to wait
Average Joe Tuneup- For when you are ready improve on a great revolver, or just learn more about how it works
Born on Date for 15-2 #2628**- 1979
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

TOO LATE.............. this was not only my 1st Dan Wesson, but my first revolver! Already looking at another one that I spotted at another pawn shop!!! Was gonna ask what a fair price would be on it. Should I start a thread to ask?

Thanks a lot Steve, I'm looking forward to cracking into it and seeing what makes it tick! Don't want to mess up an already sweet shooter though.

Welcome to the forum. Always nice to have another member from the Lone Star. I wouldn't worry about messing up anything with the Average Joe. Your 15-2 is very user friendly to work on. If you are moderately handy and take your time, you will be amazed what that tune up will do for an already sweet shooter.

Welcome to the asylum. Ditto to Brucertx comment about user friendly. EWK tool is good as is the metal factory tool with Allan wrenches. Please keep your index and middle finger through the frame pushing against the cylinder while you eject cases. If the cylinder starts to close while the extractor is extended it will scratch the sideplate. You did good on price. 400 to 600 is about right depending on condition, tool, box and part of the country. LNIB have been going for more in some places.

Welcome! What's the other Dan you're looking at???
Mater of fact, I went and eyeballed it yesterday. It is a 15-2VH with the 6 in. barrel. This thing is cherry! Not a scratch on it, with the exception of a VERY slight cylinder ring. There is no barrel nut wrench, gauge or box. Out the door price on it will be $550.00....................... Y'all think that is a fair price?????? I'd like to pick it up, but it seems a bit high, though I have nothing to base it on. Any help would be appreciated.

That's a fair price if it all checks out and if he can kick in a box of ammo, even better.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

cool deal. Forgot to mention that it was marked with Monson ,Mass. When I checked it out everything felt right. Cylinder was tight with no wobble & the gap was at .006 (yeah.... I took a feeler gauge with me, heh!). All in all the thing is damn near perfect. Never seen one this clean........EVER! Think I might have to pick it up. Thanks for the help Bigun..........
