Hi everyone

I recently bought an amazing Dan Wesson SuperMag 40 in .357 Maximum 8", simply the most beautiful gun in my collection. I've heard about dan Wesson's guns but never put my hands on one of them. I just started my collection and I will try to find other barrels in different calibers, length and style . I hope to share my new passion with the other forum members . See you soon

Welcome to the Forum from Wisconsin.  Barrels for SuperMags are tough to find, wish you all the luck.  Maybe someone on the Forum may have some.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Welcome to the forum. Dans only shoot the caliber they were made for. Your gun can chamber 357 Magnum and 38 special also as they are the same caliber. Janz are interchangable calibers. The barrel length options are 4,6,8 and 91/2". The styles are Vented top rail, Heavy Vented and Slotted. Either Vented or Heavy Vented can be Slotted. Also compensated shrouds were made in Palmer, Massachusetts and I believe Norwich. I am very fond of 357 Supermags. I have more than I have holes in my head. My mother was a hoarder and I seem to have inherited the tendency. I only hoard firearms and bonsai though.

Thanks for this, I was thinking Dan Wesson's guns have diffrents calibers on the same frame. But with all length available options and styles  I will be really busy to customise my gun

this is my gun before I cleaned it and before my gunsmith made some cosmetic lifting, but I've a problem the barrel toll wrench sales with is for small frame not for large so now I can't change my barrel or shroud cry

I have seen a socket wrench made into a barrel tool. Cut the sides of the socket but leave 2 pieces that fit into the slots of a barrel nut. Use the wrench to turn it.

I know my method is far from ideal but it does work, I use 2 allen wrenchs and an adjustable wrench to remove the barrel nut.
2 of these go into the barrel nut slots:

and I use the adjustable wrench to grab the allens

Then is just a matter of rotating.
