Greetings,
I just found this forum this evening. I have a 15-2 with standard 4 and 8 inch vented barrels. I have had this weapon since buying it from a friend back in about 1992. I had fired the weapon in 1993 and put it away in an ammo can after cleaning and oiling. I had opened the can maybe twice to clean and oil the weapon since then up until last year, 2019, when I decided that I would like to take it to the range when a buddy suggested we go shooting. I also reload ammo and had about 150 rounds from 1993 sealed in an ammo can as well. The weapon fired very well and the reloads all shot well.
Since then I have noticed that the number of misfires has increased. The firing pin just doesn't seem to be punching very deep in the primer; when it misfires there is a shallow mark from the firing pin seen. Also, the weapon does not shoot on double action.
I really like this weapon. It is accurate and fun to shoot.
If anyone is reading this, I would like to ask if they think the mainspring is weak or worn out or just plain old and tired? I don't remember if it was on this forum or another, but I have read that the original mainspring was nine pounds. Wolff sells a kit with a mainspring of 8 or even 7.5 pounds. I have also read of folks descriptions of hard hammer pull from too much spring tension.
If anyone were to read this, would you recommend a wolff spring, or would you recommend a 9 pound spring? Would it be worth my while to call CZ at the number posted to see if I can get a good mainspring?
At any rate, I take my weapon to the range and enjoy reloading. I have been casting a 158 gr semi wadcutter and loading that over a charge of 4 grains of bullseye. Information about bullets and powders is really hard to find. Based upon an article that I read about powders, bullseye is a fast burning powder and a slower burning powder may be indicated, especially if shooting a longer barrel. I think it works well, but I have only gotten back into shooting and reloading. Are thee any other reloaders out there and what do you reload in terms of bullet and powder?
Looking forward to reading replies. I am quite happy to find this forum. Oh, by the way, the guy at the gunshop in the neighborhood asked me if I wanted to sell my DW. Of course I answered no, but I think it is remarkable that he asked. Also, a young man at the range was just pleased as punch when I showed him my weapon, he said that it is soo cool that I can change barrels.

Welcome to the DWF- glad to have you here!
The misfires may be spring related but start here to understand grip screw problems. Then a good cleaning is probably in order, using the Average Joe Tuneup as a guide.
One of my go-to loads that I've settled on: 158 gr HDY XTP, 16.6 gr. WIN 296, CCI 550 w/ medium crimp.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Thanks for the tips. I had previously disassembled the gun and cleaned the parts similar to what is mentioned, but I didn't polish or reblue the parts. This is next. The cleaning and lube didn't help. I have also noticed that the hammer pull is really not very strong, in fact it takes little strength to pull the hammer back. I have ordered a Wolff spring set and am still waiting for it. I reckon that I can disassemble again and polish and reblue while waiting. I am hoping that a new spring will do the trick.
