I guess I'm supposed to come here first to say I'm new. Hope someone can tell me how to post and get answers from seasoned DW owners.
So, my name is Jon and I love shooting, hunting and riding motorcycles (particularly Gold Wings)
I'm looking at purchasing a DW 357 stainless. The guy sent me some pics of the gun and box. He said he bought it at a gun show this year.
The barrel is marked:
DAN WESSON ARMS
357 MAGNUM CTS
The frame, just in front of the trigger has:
DAN WESSON ARMS
MONSON, MASS. U.S.A.
S D 0 1 4 5 0 7
The box is styrofoam and has a small white label that reads:
DAN WESSON ARMS REVOLVER MOD. 715-VH
.38/357 MAG. CTG. INTERCHANGEABLE BARREL
STAINLESS STEEL BULL BARREL/VENT RIB
2 1/2" 4" 6" 8" S (rest of serial number hand written)
On the other half of the box, just above the label I just described, is a label that has:
THE SUPERIOR QUALITY OF
OUR PRODUCT HAS ENABLED
US TO EXTEND OUR WARRANTY
TO *10 YEARS*
It has wood grips
Hoping someone can tell me how much should I expect to pay. He is asking $475 but said he would negotiate.
Thanks in advance,
Jon

to the Fourm from PA!
The gun you are describing sounds as though the seller has the correct factory box, You may want to find out if the barrel removal tool and feeler gage are also included along with the manual. While these items aren't essential they add to the completeness of the factory box. You can purchase superior barrel wrenches from EWK Arms, a member of this site, see side bar for a link. The price of 475 seems in line for the gun described, but of course condition plays a huge part in valuing any gun, as does the location of the seller and buyer. If he will negotiate, offer him a bit less and see what his response is. If he doesn't like it you can always up your offer or pay his asking price. Again, here in PA what you have described sounds reasonable for $475 if the gun is in very good condition.
Pictures speak very loudly, so if you could post a few of them that would help us determine what the condition is. Besides, we like .
The 15/715 Dan Wessons are very robust, well built guns that can hadle a steady diet of full house 357mag loads. These guns are probablly the most common and popular of all the Dan Wesson models. I'll venture to say that most if not all the members on this site own at least one model 15/715, so you can't go wrong with a good example of this accurate and fun to shoot revolver.

Welcome. Looks like a good buy at that asking price, to me. This should help:

Nice pics! I agree with rwsem, that looks like a fine example of a 715, I'd pay the asking price for that one myself. Good luck, hope you land that one, it will make a fine start to .

Welcome to the forum from another PA member.
I agree with the other guys, his asking price is quite reasonable for an excellent condition 715. It would most likely go higher than that on Gunbroker.
If you buy it post us up some more and let us know how you like it. And if you come up with any questions just ask away.
Be warned, the model 715 is a great Dan to own, but if can be the start of a bad case of (Dan Wesson Acquisition Syndrome).
