Maxwell Silver is my forum name my real name is Arlen and I hail from the Northern Lower Michigan woods. I have recently acquired a Model 22 target w/ 6" barrel. This choice was made after six months of looking, trying and researching for a 22 revolver. No semi-autos for me.
One day browsing Gunbroker there it was, a pawnshop in downstate Michigan had it listed. Got it at a good price I thought and as soon as I held it I knew it for sure. It reminds me of the Colt Python which has become my 'safe queen'.
I already got the hankering for a 357 DW. Maybe a Pistol pak..... all ready ordered the barrel wrench and gage kit from ewk. whooo boy.
Been shooting this 22 too. My wife can shoot this thing double action better than me.....
I know, I know...

Hello Arlen and welcome to the forum. Always nice to see a Michigander join. I have family in the northern part of the mitten.
You have correctly diagnosed your condition. It's not fatal nor curable. It can, however, be kept in check with regular Dan acquisitions.
I would definitely recommend the EWK barrel wrench and feeler gauge/wrench set. Trust me, you will be taking it apart. But hey, that's half the fun.
BTW...you should give into the disease and get that .357!

You have Family there too?
Arlen, sorry to mess with your Topic, but Bruce and Steve sort of know each other! We share that Family in Northern Michigan.
I really think that the DW 22/722 is the very best normal production .22 lr revolver you can find, I have one of each.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Stainless? I'm already enamoured by Nickle Plating. It's so shiny! Takes a beating too.
This DW is my first Blued Pistol and I have discovered this finish is delicate.
Another thing I have learned through the use of this pistol is the real differences between 22 ammo that I have read so much about.
I was wondering why the different logo's you know the DW as compared to the DWF?
This revolver has a 4 digit serial # beginning with 1 or 7 ( I'll have to look when I get home) and was made in Monson or is it Monsoon.

Welcome Max. The medallion thing is just the company changed names and logos a few times over the years. The DWA (oops corrected typo) should be late 70's and the DW will be from around 80 ish forward.

Really-Michigan?? Oh well.. Welcome anyway- everyone has to be from somewhere....Just kiddin'; go ahead and get a 715 to get the stainless bug in your system as well....
Regards, Ron
Yes Ron, Michigan. I'm afraid you are just going to have to deal with it.
715 is great idea. That stainless bug leaves a bite that needs major scratching!

What's up with Ron and Michigan?
If you seek a pleasant peninsula and all that....
Ron's a great guy (I had to say that because he's a Mod! ). He's retiring shortly after 30 years of service in the Army. Very knowledgeable about firearms and especially Dans. He has a personal collection that would make you .
He does have one almost fatal flaw... He's a Nebraska Cornhusker. I'm a Wolverine and my brother Steve is a Spartan.
You can see where Ron might feel a bit overwhelmed and a tad inadequate......

This stainless finish is it polished or matte (satin)?
Well, my 715 is definitely on the shiny side. I had to do a fair amount of ding, dent and scratch remediation on it. So I opted to give it a good polish. My 741 is more matte. I'll be doing some minor surface resto on it and I'll probably shine it up.
I'm easily distracted by good beer, smooth tequila, fast cars, women of questionable virtue and shiny stuff.

So I presume the The Blue and Maise M and the Green S avatars have some kind of symbiotic relationship, aside from the grid iron?
