Hi everone, my name is John, and I recently inherited a few firearms including a Dan Wesson Model 715 S/N SD018xxx with 6 inch and 2 1/2 inch heavy vented barrels from my father.

Researching the Dan Wesson brought me to this forum, and in turn this forum led me to EWK for a few replacement parts.

After lurking for a bit on your fine site, I decided to join in, if you'll all have me!

Welcome to the Forum from a native Michigander, and MSU grad (I know Holt).

Beautiful 715!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome to dwf-sign from another new member.  The 715 looks great, I'm glad your father honored you with such a fine firearm.

Thanks all for the nicewelcome!

I've already been to the range with this one and it does shoot very well.  I appreciate how it soaks up the recoil from +P and magnum loads better than my S&W Model 19 4" bbl.

The only thing I have to get used to is having to remove the grip and sideplate in order to remove the clyinder for cleaning.  (Then making sure the hand spring and clyinder lock plunger & spring are properly in place when reassembling.)

I prefer the 'remove one screw' method of S&W.

Waiting on a fiber optic front sight from EWK, then I'm sure I'll be able to drive finish brads instead of just tacks with this DW.

A lil late, but WELCOME!

I clean mine the same way. I have an old dental pick for various functions, including putting that hand back in place.

Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box

in that order.
