Just picked up my 1st Dan Wesson. I'm a 1911 guy, and am kinda surprised my 1st DW is a revolver. I'm a little OCD about the condition of my firearms. I would normally pass on a firearm in this condition ( pretty scuffed up ), but it just felt so good in my hand, and the trigger was so good, I wanted it. The blems look worse in the pic than they actually are. I think with some elbow grease, I can polish most, if not all of them out. Seems there is plenty of details about the company history online, but not a whole lot about the guns themselves. Hope to learn what I can about this one.

The brushed stainless of a Dan can be restored with scotch brite. White I think. Don't use steel wool unless it is stainless wool. You have the very desirable 4"VH barrel assembly. Did you get a barrel tool with it?
Unfortunately, I got only the gun, no box or anything else. Started on the clean up today. It's already looking better, but this will take a few days. Took the grips off for better access to areas close to them for polishing. Guess they are pretty old & dry. They cracked & split near the top. So now in the market for new grips.

Tuckerdog1,
Welcome to the DWF from a DFW Texan!
There is a lot to learn about your gun here, but I have gone as far as buying old magazines with Dan Wesson Features.
If you signed up to be a DWF Supporter, then you already have access to the Serial Number Registry.
Grips: Factory Grips are great....(ebay) EVERYBODY should have a Factory Zebrawood....(And we all want to, so prices are at a premium). I have been very happy with the Hogue selection of Wood Grips.
You didn't say where in the middle of Texas you were, but I take my Dan's with me to Austin/Hutto, and over to Pflugerville to shoot at Red's.
Let's spend some Brass!

Scout728,
I'm in Georgetown, so we might be able to meet & shoot sometime. I'm a member of the Temple gun club, and can bring guests. Would save some $$ over Red's. It'll have to be sometime in the future however. I'm having a surgery soon, and the doc says I'll be housebound for at least 6 weeks. Weather permitting, I'm gonna try and squeeze in a trip to the range Wednesday. This DW will be my primary focus. I did spend a few days rubbing on it, trying to get the scuffs out. Not perfect, but much better than it was. It's a shooter after all. Here's the before & a couple afters.

Welcome to DWF from across the Sabine, down on da Bayou in SW Louisiana.
Congrats on the first DW! Some of us have found them kind of addictive. I'm currently at 10 revolvers and four 1911's.
Regards,
Jim
