I found your site the other day looking for general information regarding my
Dan Wesson. Excellent site and lots of great information. Cudos to the Admin.
From what I have gleaned from the site I have a Palmer SS 5" 357Mag
probably a model 715. The revolver is in excellent condition and is the most
accurate revolver I have ever owned. I bought this revolver used at a gun show
in the late 90's for $200.00. I'm not sure the dealer really knew what he had.
great deal for me. I'll post some pictures once I figure out your process.
Thanks for the great info.

Welcome aboard rottenroger.
You indeed own a 715. I would say you purchased your Dan back when nobody (except us) knew how good of a shooter DW can be. I should have stockpiled them back when you could pick them up for $200-$300. Times are changing and they are increasing dramatically in value.
Enjoy your stay.
I just saw your picture post- very nice. There seems to be a bunch of fixed barrels showing up recently from members collections.

Welcome aboard, love the screen name!
Man, $200 is a smokin' deal for any DW in halfway respectable shape, I'd say you sure did well for yourself. So being a 5" barrel, does that mean you have a fixed barrel, or is it removeable? There's some new members who have posted pics of their fixed barrel guns in the "pics" thread.
There's a pic posting link in the "FAQ" spot on the right of the screen, that should help. --->>

Here's a question for you all. How would you make the barrel measurement?
I measured 5" from the barrel next to the cylinder to the end of the muzzle.
Or would you measure from the shroud to the end of the muzzle ? I used to
own a S&W SS 686 6" and it shot really well but it never came close to shooting
as tight a group as this Dan Wesson. I shot a Dan Wesson in the early 80's
and then it was said to be the only revolver to be as accurate or better than the
Colt Python.

Welcome to the forum! Great price on a Dan Wesson. Wish you could still get them now for that much money. This must be the place for fixed barrel revolvers. I only remember hearing very little about them when they first came out, and no one I know bought one. Now, we have a bunch of them here...great to see them, and it just makes another variation we have to add to the collections.

Sounds like you're measuring right. They are measured from right next to the cylinder, to the end of the muzzle...actual barrel length. So the 6" removable barrel I have has a 5-5/16 shroud, for example.
