I found this site because I was doing research on my dad's Dan Wesson .357. He thought it was a S&W--he's no expert, and neither am I, but I think I'm more interested in firearms than he is. So after looking all over the internet, including this site, I discovered that his revolver is in fact a Dan Wesson model 715-V. According to the information I found, and the serial number on his DW, I think his was manufactured in either 1982 or 1983. I love it even though I own a Ruger GP100 5" and I will probably stick with Rugers when it comes to revolvers. I'm hoping someday he passes his DW to me.
It's hard to find the value of these because you just don't see them often, plus his doesn't have the extra shrouds that it probably came with (he bought from a friend years ago). Do any of you know what it might be worth?

Welcome to the forum. That's a very nice looking 715 you and your dad have there. You have found the right place to get DW answers. I understand your feeling for Rugers, but I think if you take this baby out for a run, you might find room for a DW or 2 in your gun case.

Welcome to the forum, I agree with Bruce you may want to take that 715 for a run you might like it. Not all Dan Wessons came with extra barrels, your dad's could have come just like it is. Although it would have come with a tool to remove the barrel and a feeler gauge to set the Barrel/cylinder gap.
If I was to give an opinion on value, I would guess it would bring around $500 on Gunbroker provided it is very good condition. Maybe a bit more.

I agree on Lonwolf's price estimate.
The gun was likely originally sold as it is, except it may have originally had a wooden grip. Extra barrels were available separately from DW. If it was originally purchased as a Pistol Pac, then it would have come with three extra barrels, extra grip & front sights, a case (like a briefcase) & belt buckle.
aboard, your Dad's 715 looks like a beauty.

I sense the Rugers are not going to be seeing all of the action?
Glad you enjoyed it. When you spend a little time with the Dan, maybe some extra barrels and grips, it truly becomes more than a single revolver.
