I have been accumulating guns most of my long life but just bought my first DW.  Heretofore, all I knew about them was that there was a possibility of changing barrels.  I have semi autos of almost all calibers and makes so now I want to venture out into the revolver world for future purchases.

I ran across a woman who had a DW for sale.  It is a .357 Mag. CTG with a 4" barrel, fixed sights, and still wonder what model it is.  That's why I joined this forum.  I have spent years on horse forums but never a gun forum.

My DW is in great shape, blue is at least 99.5% and grips look new.  She kept it in a pouch.  It was made in late '82 or early '83 (best I can tell), Monson, Mass., 3198xx.  She said she bought it in '83 new.  She has developed arthritis in her wrist so she wants a .22.  She has been shooting snakes and rats with the DW.  The woman can shoot!!

Short of a picture, do you have an idea of the model?

One thing, I have seen the words "pork chop" used.  The last pork chop I saw I ate.  What does this signify relative to a DW?

I'll borrow a pic from member Charger Fan since he is the resident porkchop king.

Thanks, I see the difference.  That picture looks just like my DW except for the prok chop and the grips.  Does the pork chop thingy make them more desirable or valuable?

Welcome

I think you will find it is a great little shooter. Of course DW also has a line of 1911's.

Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box

in that order.

4 Monson Model 15's

1 Palmer FB 15

1 Rossi 357 Model 92 (lever)

1 CZ 75B

Unfortunately, that's true.Cry However, I just know that one day the mighty Porkchop will finally gain the recognition it deserves!  I.e. ...one day the rest of the DW gun collecting populace will wake up & smell the coffee. hehe lol2

However, from your description & serial number, I'd say that you've got yourself a Model 14-2 with a 4" barrel. Here's an example of a 6" barrel, I don't have a 4" handy at the moment.Embarassed The only caveat may be that your grips may possibly have "DW" instead of "DWA".Wink

You are correct, DW instead of DWA.  I'm going to a Gun Show in Montgomery a week from today.  I have studied about every word on this forum so now I'm going armed with enough knowledge to be dangerous.  I want another DW.  Why, I'm not sure.  I am a gun nut and can't seem to get enough.  I am also looking for a Winchester 94 with a ser. no. under 5,000,000.  I already have one but want another.  I expect to be broke by the time I leave the show if I see what I'm looking for.

The 14-2 is a great shooter! Now did you get any goodies with it?  Wrench, paper work , box?  You ca sometimes find Barrels for these though the 15-2 will work alos just need to change front sight (which can be goten from EWK).  Hope the show pans out!

gotta say Welcome and sounds like DWAShas taken hold!    post up some pics soon!

Yeah, it's better to just hit it with a garden hose Jaw Dropping

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I didn't get any goodies with it.  Except the lady gave me a dozen yard chicken eggs.  When I bought it all I knew about DW was that I wanted one.  This forum has really opened up a new world for me.  I love guns with a documented history that are no longer made.  My last interest was on the Winchester 94 30-30.  I bought one recently for $200 made in 1974 in good shape.

I will post DW pictures soon.  I'm not a geek but my wife is pretty good with computers and her son is employed working on computers.  I just need to take the time to learn.

I would like to commend this forum for friendlyness and willingness to help and at the same time entertaining.  Sounds like a bunch of good guys.  Thanks!

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

Welcome to the forum from Tennessee. Sounds like you got yourself a very good deal on the DW plus you got something to eat in the deal. I am sure that you will enjoy your time spent here, a lot of smart people that like to share information on DW and other topics.
