Hi folks. Have a 14-2 357 mag and some questions I hope for some help on!
I can't find much info on the Model 14. Lots on the Model 15. When were the 14's made? Are their barrels unique or can other models be used? Are their any problem shooting 38 special in?
Also, is their a comprehensive list of all DW revolver models.
And lastly, is the 14 a good gun? I'm sure people are biased here! But compared to other DW models, is it reliable and a straight shooter.
Thanks a bunch!

First welcome to the . You have found the largest and most accurate depository of DW info available. Well at least I think so. Lots of good info here and some great guys with plenty of knowledge to share. I will try to start with a few answers, and others can come along and straighten me out if I miss the mark. Model 14s were produced as long as the model 15 series. The only difference is the fixed sights vs. adjustable sights. The shrouds are slightly different but will interchange. If you put a M15 shroud on a M14 you will need one of EWK's conversion sights to get good point of aim. A list of models is found in the archives here, look at the top of the screen. And BTW any DW is better than most others, and yes I am biased!

Welcome to the forum. I'm one of the newer guys here so I'm not the best to answer your questions. That won't stop me from trying though.
A list of models can be found here https://www.danwessonforum.com/archive/models-2/revolvers
You can also get to that list from the home page by hovering the mouse pointer over the Archive tab, then move down to Models, then over to Revolver Models and clicking.
I don't think the barrel is unique but the front site is different. Using a Model 15 front sight on a 14 will affect the point of aim but I'm not sure which way.
While I'm inexperienced I'm convinced there are very few if any bad Dans, only ones that may have been neglected or abused. Except for severe mistreatment, most problems can be fixed by the owner. It just takes patience reading some of the posts, asking a few questions and taking your time while working on it. The 14 is as good for what it was designed as any Dan. Shoot 38's or 357 magnums and enjoy. Just clean the carbon build up in the cylinder after firing.
And lastly, . Sorry I had to do it.

Welcome to the forum, like the other guys said you have come to the right place for info. Most any technical info about model 15-2 revolvers will apply to 14-2s, the difference being that 15s have adjustable rear sights. Internals are the same and grips interchange. The front sight on a 14-2 barrel will be lower than a 15-2 due to the low fixed rear sight. As LB said, you can use a 15-2 barrel if you buy a replacement front sight from EWK arms.
In my opinion you can shoot .38s all you want just clean the cylinders well to avoid carbon fouling that might make it difficult to chamber magnums.

Welcome to the Forum. As noted already, 14-2 and 15-2 are identical mechanically and functionally except for the fixed rear sight. I recently got my first 14-2, and discovered that it had been shot almost exclusively (I think) with .38 spl, it would not chamber .357 mag. Once I got the chambers scrubbed out I discovered that I have a bit of a light primer strike issue which I am resolving soon.
Fortunately, 14-2 owners now have a very easy fix for the front sight height from EWK, allowing us to use any 15-2 barrel assembly.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Wait a sec…are we talking 14, 14-1 or 14-2 here?
Model 14 Porkchops in .38 & .357 here…
Model 14-1 Porkchop here…
The Model 14-2 here (wearing the unusually rare 8" barrel)…
Or even the stainless model, the 714-2 (shown here in Pistol Pac form)…
So yeah, which one are we talking about here?
And yes… to the
