IN the early 80's my husband traded for a DW Model 15-2. He never shot it but loaned to a friend who brought it back with a crack in the side plate. It has been in a closet all these years and after a recent stroke, my husband has decided he wants this gun repaired. I am trying to help with his "bucket list" but have been unable to locate this part anywhere. Any suggestions?
PM sent. I have several used ones and can part with one for a good cause. You can try Dan Wesson in Norwich but I have heard they were out of stock of blue ones. Sideplates are fitted to the frames and are difficult to fit unless experienced. An experienced gunsmith should be used unless you or your husband are handy and up to it. I wish him a speedy recovery. Ron.

Welcome to the Forum! It's nice of you to want to help your husband with this problem. Side plates come available from time to time on eBay and GunBroker, but there have not been many for sale in the last year or so.
If you find one it will have to be hand fitted to the gun, preferably by the Dan Wesson Factory, if they will do it. It will likely also need to be re-blued after fitting is done. Again, best to have the factory do it.
It's likely that a member of the forum has a spare they will be willing to part with for a reasonable sum.
Good Luck!

You two both have the same first initials? I'm just assuming, but if so, I love it. You obviously care for him deeply and his heartfelt concerns these days are yours now...you are such a wonderful lady! I wish I could give you a big bear hug & alleviate your worries, and make the prognosis be untrue.
Stay strong!
