Hello from Iowa, Man am I glad I found you.
I just purchased this 15-2 that I think is in pretty good condition ? When the gun is in a certain light, there is a noticeable difference in the bluing on different parts of the frame, and the barrel and cylinder. Can you guys take a look at these pictures and tell me what's going on ? Is this just cosmetic, or do I need to worry about something ? Personally, I really don't care – as long as it goes Bang!

Welcome and congratz on the 15-2!
I own 3 15-2s, and only the one I bought originally in 1986 has it. It seems to me its the frame proper that turns "barney". From what I gather it is made (as many guns were) from early metal forming process. It is only that part that I have ever seen turn. Further, it has been said that guns that due barney, will do so again if re-blued. A possible way to minize the effect is to keep it out of the light.
The only sure-fire "fix"....................... plating.

He sure was, huh? Bam...Bam... there, fixed!
aboard Blu15_2, it's great to have ya here!
Yep, your gun's frame has a bit of Barney going on...but that's ok, I've seen Rugers & Colts with the same problem. The gun will shoot just fine, regardless of what color the outward character looks like.
I've got a few DW's myself with a mild case of Barney going on (usually most noticeable in direct sunlight). Two of which were only made a few numbers apart from each other...one has only the frame turning & the other has both the frame and cylinder. Go figure.

Well, thanks everyone ! Sounds like you all know your stuff. I knew I was buying a piece of history - and not just a "gun." Given what I've just learned, I am going to consider it even more valuable as such.
I'm looking forward to discussing all things DW further with you guys after I have a chance to pump a few boxes of ammo through it.
Will report back.
Bill.
