I had been wanting a nice 1911 ever since I sold my 1st 1911 -- I would hit up gun shops and see what they had, but didn't want a kimber or S&W. Originally I looked for a les baer, but got turned on to Dan Wesson's --- which was what I wanted (I wanted a stainless commander). I stumbled into a local store (just moved (back) to california) to ask if they did gun transfers, but to my surprise, they had a cbob right there. The price was about $150 more than buds (after you factor in transfer fees) but he had it right there. It felt better than I expected, so I bought it -- Have to wait for the 20th to pick it up; I thought the waiting period would fly by but 1 day into, it feels like time has slowed 😉
Looking for tips on break-in ...
thanks!

Welcome to DWF and thanks for the intro. Best break in advice I've ever heard for a DW 1911 is to run it pretty well lubricated (ie: WET!). Dan Wesson 1911's are made to pretty tight tolerances.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks folks! I appreciate it. Forgot to mention, I'm half moon bay/pacifica area.
How many rounds should I expect to run thru for breakin? I have about 200 to 300 rounds of (my) reloads, but they are a little on the hotter side of spec. Or should I just buy some cheap ball?

The factory usually recommends 500 round of ball ammo, cleaning and lubricating every 50 rounds.
This is great advice. Hold off on your reloads. Shoot a few hundred rounds with standard commercial name brand ammunition, regular cleaning and lubrication, shoot again, clean, lube...
If an issue arises DW will fix it. You will be able to truthfully state that you followed break in procedures, and the empty ammunition boxes and a shooting diary to prove it. And that question will almost certainly arise from Dan Wesson.
