New to the forum and Dan Wessons. I was getting the bug to replace my sons 357 s&W which currently reside at my home with another S&W when a friend was moving who no longer is able to actively shoot. I didn't want anything this large, since my son has a 454Casull and it doesn't get used very much. I have never met a gun I didn't like(except maybe the bruises from my vz24). I am a avid reloader and getting interested in casting. I am not obsessed yet. This caliber and gun looks like it is a casters heaven. I was a little leary of getting a DanW since they were so inexpensively priced I thought there might be issues. I passed up a 357 at a local pawn shop for 2 bills. I started shootin 2 years ago when my son returned from the Marines. I now own 17 long guns and 7 handguns. Most of the long guns are 22's I rescue from the scrap heap. The freind who sold this to me gave me his Rabbit 22 short youh rifle which I can find no info on? If anyone has ever heard of a Rabbit 22 let me know.

I sure haven't heard of a Rabbit 22, but I'd wager a bet that someone here has.Smile

Looks like that's a .44 you have pictured, or is it a .41? I can't quite make it out from here. Either way it looks like a beauty, I bet you'll find that DW to be fun to shoot.

Welcome aboard & thanks for theCool Pics

*EDIT* I forgot your other post regarding this gun...it's a .44, I see. Woops! Smile

Welcome to the forum! Most of the time if you can find a Dan Wesson locally they can be had for a good price.  Once you start hitting the auctions you will have to pay more!

Very nice looking Dan!

Get the action out of the stock and find the proof marks may get some

I had one of those rifles for a short time-- during my research the best I could come up with was either a Cooey 39 or a copy thereof...

There were a lot of hardware store rifles during that time period--no telling who made them.

Welcome to DWF. Fine looking .44VH. I used to live in Austin until it got weird. Now live down the road in Bastrop but Austin is following me out here.
