Hey All,
I've been reading around and finally joined the forum as I have finally found my own 357 and she is a beauty! The SN 1945xx seems to place it around 1978-1979.
It is unfired and basically new, and not sure if there is such a thing as a break-in for these guns. Is it wise to change out 30 yr old springs? Someone suggested to dry fire a few hundred and let it smooth itself out.
Either way I am very excited about my newly acquired...

to the place that is all about Dan's. Looks like you found a niceun. I wouldn't change any springs unless there is a problem, but you probably do need to clean out any 30 year old grease and dust. Lube her up good and give her a good work out.

Welcome to the DWF. That is a pretty one, I hope you got a good price.
I would give it a good, thorough cleaning and than take it to the range and shoot the heck out of it. Dan's have a pretty good trigger right out of the box and with wear it will probably smooth out a bit. Personally I wouldn't dry fire it, there's just no bang to that. However, if you are going to dry fire it a lot, it would be a good idea to get some snap-caps.
Enjoy your new toy.

Very nice! Not too often you can grab a 30 year old unfired gun. There are others on here that know a lot more than me, but I would not dry fire it too much, rather if it functions alright now I would take it out and shoot a few hundred to break it in.Then I would follow Shoot's awesome tutorial on disassembly and cleaning, and put a set of Wolff springs in then if you want.

Remember, it's a Dan Wesson, so if you shoot it enough, you'll wear it in, but you'll never shoot it enough to wear it out...
