Greetings just joined the forum. A few weeks ago I pulled my old Dan Wesson .357 out of the safe to give it a cleaning and oiling. I purchased it used for $150 about 27 seven years back. It’s a Monson with the 8” barrel. I became interested in what it was worth and performed some research. That’s when I found this site. This is a great web site full of information and history. The down side is now I’m hooked on Dan Wesson’s again, and have the itch to buy more. I have several semi-autos but have found the advantages of the old wheel guns again. I was not aware they made the .357 super-mag. Does anyone know what a fair price for a model 40 would be? I would prefer a stainless but may consider a blued. Any info would be appreciated. Also are the 7445-AGS Alaskan guide specials available?
Welcome to the forum!
Dan Wesson is no longer making revolvers so finding an Alaskan Guide Special will be next to impossible I think.
As for the 357 SuperMag you see those on GunBroker pretty offen. The blued version seem to bring $500 - $600 and the stainless a bit more depending on condition.
Again welcome to the forum!

el.casablanca- It's a slippery slope that you're on now! That $150 revolver from almost 3 decades ago is going to to need company, it needs to be reunited with some of his brothers. Soon you find yourself scouring GunBroker for more Dan Wessons, and haunting Ebay for accessories. Then you sit up late at night on a little known Forum with 448 other crazy people talking about SuperMags and ported shrouds, and then... (ooops, time for my meds, I'll be back).

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

It's already started. I ordered a few extra barrels from CZ.
I may use it as a carry gun. Since its a bigger gun than my 1911 I may just open carry it. We get a lot of Californians here in Tucson looking for property. A large hand gun on the hip keeps the liberal one's from moving in and changeing the gun laws.
