A few weeks back I decided to pick up my first revolver. I went back and forth over a S&W or a Ruger, either the models I held didn’t feel right or were more than I wanted to spend. Wandering through a local gun show, I came across a Dan Wesson 357 wearing a set of Hogue grips and in pretty good shape.
I came home with it and found this site and have since leaned it’s a 15-2, made in the late 70s. It has a 6” vent barrel. Took it to the range the next day and loved it!
I actually loved it so much that I found a Model 22 our in Colorado and had it shipped in. It was advertised as having a 6” barrel, it actually has a 8” vented heavy barrel. The wood grips are a bit large, but manageable for the time being. I’ll look for similar Hogue grips for this one. The biggest surprise for this was the quality of the bluing. It’s deep and takes a fantastic shine when clean. Almost a wet look.
Anyways, thanks to everyone that has provided/compiled that fantastic information here. I’ll have pictures to upload later on tonight or tomorrow.

I lucked out on the 22.
There a local one in Armslist for trade which is what got me looking for one. The one I bought showed up on like page 3 of a google search. Priced at $449.99. Given a rougher 22 with a 357 shroud went for $556 on Gunbroker last week, I didn’t wait long to purchase it when I found it.
