hey yall im new to DW 1911's im picking up my PM7 on Friday,
i had a few questions i noticed that in CA we can only get two DW pistols the pm7 and the classic bobtail, did i make the right choice on getting the pm7 it felt great in hand and im sure will be an amazing 1911 i will be getting the classic bobtail soon.
my other question was with the newer DW pm7 pistols are they any different from what was made when they discontinued the pistol i see some pm7's that are different. How can i tell the year the pistol was made from the serial number?
i notice some have the CZ in the serial number and i dont think the one I bought has that
i guess im just a bit confused on what is the difference between the pm7 im getting and maybe the older model pm7.
if i didnt confuse the shit out of yall any help would be great
thanks everyone

Welcome to the from PA!
Starting in about 2013 CZ began putting the year of manufacture as the first two digits of the serial number. So a gun that starts off 14xxx would be a 2014. Prior to that, I'm not sure there was a system. If it doesn't have a CZ at the end of the serial number then it is a pre CZ gun of the Bob Serva years. As to internal differences, I really don't know. The 1911forum has a Dan Wesson subsection that is very active, you may want to post your question there too. I don't think you'll be disappointed with either one. OH, when you can.

Welcome to DWF, I think you made a great choice. PM7 is the "journeyman" of the DW 1911 line, it does everything very well, and at a good price point.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
