Hey all,

I just recently traded one of my other pieces for my first Dan Wesson .357mag . Its a Monson made 14-S (SN# 22XXX). Minor wear here and there, but overall solid piece.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

Welcome to the forum. What a great gun to start off with. I think you are already infected with DWAS as you write it is " your first " .

Ah, SE MI, my old stomping ground. You have a fine looking specimen of Dan Pork. You will truly love shooting it.

Welcome to the Forum. Lot's of good folks here with tons of Dan knowledge.

That is one wicked looking snubby. For home defense you could just club the intruder a couple whacks... save the ammo. Welcome to DWF!

I picked up the Hogue grip for it (but probably only going to use it for prolonged range time)

Also took it out for its first range day. Testing different ammo (.357 FMJ, .357 JHP, .38spc FMJ, and some Hornady CD .357)

Single action @ 15ft.

That's pretty darn good for your first outing with a new (to you) pistol. Especially with fixed sights and a 2.5 snubbie.range-time

Thanks brucertx,

I've owned and handled a variety of pistols before but this was my first experience with .357mag/.38spc. I think with more time and adjusting my sight picture a bit, that X will be cleaned up nicely. Still not entirely sure where the 14-S falls in the Dan Wesson timeline though.

The shop I went to didn't have any grips in stock, but one of the workers knew a guy who came across an estate sale in which he purchased around 14 DW revolvers, including multiple pistol pac's!!! He called him up and 15 minutes later he showed up with with the Hogue grip for me. I would imagine that gentleman is a part of this forum, so thanks again if you read this.

I also picked up a workable holster. Its a "The Masters Holster" - Pathon for N-Frame S&W's.
