Hello fellow Dan Wesson fans!  I've had a couple of DW 1911s for a while but have recently been intrigued by the revolvers. While researching I ran across this site and can't wait to find out more about these amazing weapons.

Already I've purchased a model 15-VH6 and a 740-V8S. Here's a picture of the model 15...

Welcome!

A model 15 with a non fluted cylinder. Fairly uncommon - Congrats.

The DWF has become the worlds number one resource of Dan Wesson information - enjoy.

As Wdelack pointed out, a 15-2 with a non-fluted cylinder is a nice (and welcome) rarity amongst us die hard DW aficionados, thanks for sharing the pic!laugh And, of coursewelcome to the dwf-sign

As for the 740, let's see it!big-grin I'll show you my 40 if you show off your 740...lol2 Here's mine...

Ok Charger Fan, I'm game.  I took these pics about 5 minutes ago, one of the 740 solo and one with a couple of friends...

...I have the original wood grip for the SM, but it has a crack so it will need to be repaired, pachs work fine for now.  I think I have a nice little family started.

Wisdom is merely the realization of how little one knows, therefore I am wise.

Thanks!  The pics on this forum are awesome and you guys are incredibly helpful and supportive.  For I'm just trying to get educated, for instance, what's the difference between a 15 and a 15-2?  I'm sure I'll have a bunch of questions as I go.  I'm sure I'll find a lot of the answers in the resources on this site.

By the way, I didn't properly introduce the family in the photo, a 740-V8S 357 max, a CBOB in 45 and a RZ-10 Sportsman in 10mm...Image Enlarger

There's three variations of the model 15. The first 15 evolved from the model 12, with a couple slight upgrades. It's got a "Porkchop" barrel shroud, with large sights & an external barrel nut...

The 15-1 has smaller sights, a flush barrel nut & is upgraded to the 15-2 style action...

The 15-2 changed the sights once again & after the first year or so, the current interchangeable front sights were introduced. The most noticeable change however, is the elimination of the Porkchop style shroud.

The various shroud styles can be seen here... LINK

Thanks Charger Fan for the explanation, that helps.  So if the model numbers follow suit in SS versions, the next gun I'm looking at is a 715-2 with a 6 inch barrel.  I just really prefer the stainless, don't know why, just like 'em.  Of course a 715 might make my S&W 686 feel a little crowded, but I'd love to do a side by side field test.

95XL883, my dwas has just set in, and I'm already in trouble lol2 !!!

There's nothing wrong with that, it only means that you're a "CRA".wink

(check the Acronyms list in the "FAQ's" for the explanation for that one)big-grin

I'm a CRA for sure, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, the guy showing me the 715 w/pachmayr grips was very proud that he has over 150 guns and "not one stainless, not one without wood grips, just how God intended" I went ahead and put the gun on layaway because I didn't want him to be offended by the gun being in his presence. Figured it was the best thing I could do for my fellow citizen. I'll post pics once I get possession.
