Welcometo theDWF Sign  , fellow Porkchop owner!Laugh

I'm curious as to why you need to machine the M12 barrels & shrouds to fit...they should screw right on, with no problem. The only difference is that you'd have an external nut showing. Or do you mean you'd need to machine them to make the nut fit flush, so they look like a matched set with the original?

"Illinoise", that's great!rofl

Well it took me some time to get it going ,,But here it is,,

Yes the barrel nut sticks out ,,not the problem..

The ejector rod is to long for the chanel.

shorten the rod?

or cut the channel a little longer?

Or find the correctr barrels?

Wow, look at that! Box-n-papers-n-everything!Cool  Is there any chance that any of those papers are an original dated receipt? If so, it would be MUCHO appreciated if you could share that info in the Registry link in the upper right of this screen.DWF Sign

BTW, here's a thread showing the barrel & shroud differences in the Porkchop family…

https://www.danwessonforum.com/?page_id=3/reference-files/barrel-differences-porkchop-vs-model-15-2/ That may or may not help answer some of your interchange questions.

*EDIT* Woops, I posted before I saw your ejector rod issue. That is odd & unexpected! I must admit that I haven't actually slipped a M12 shroud onto my M14, so I haven't run into that problem myself...I've merely compared them side by side. Wow, now I'm gonna have to dig the old boys out again & see if I've got the same problem!

This is the first I've heard of a longer ejector rod issue on a small frame gun, very interesting. Just in case...there's not a chance that your rod is merely loose, is there? Maybe unscrewed a few turns & that's why it's hitting?

I did register..

I could post themBroken Computer

The one that has a date in the retail price list

August 15 1974.

I would have to ask my wife to scan them or wait until I go to work and do it there..

I have all the papers that came with the gun when I got it in 98..Range Time

I was going to mill out the channel in the shrouds to fit the rod ,

but I tend to procrastinateScrewy

If the M12 barrels are not worth that much I might just machine them to fit....

Or maybe find someone that might want to do a trade..

What do want for a pollockJaw Dropping

Uh oh... Another DW anomoly Screwy.... shroud ejector cutouts should be the same length...  are the shrouds marked 357?  Maybe a 38 spcl shroud?

I could use a 4" or 6" model 12 barrel/shroud/nut combo.

All are marked .357

and the rod is tight,,,,,,

The channel on the 14 is about .065 longer than the 12 ..I think..will have to check again.

It's not like working on a bolt gun ,That for shure..

Here's a question... look at the back of the 12 shrouds.  Did someone machine off the back to square it up?  It wouldn't be the first shroud we've seen that went under the knife.

old welder- Welcome to the DWF! to submit Serial Number info (and I'd love to get that info) you should just need to click on the blue text that says "complete this form" in the Serial Number Registry Topic on the Forum Sidebar. That should open a form for you to complete (you do need to add the anti-spam verification code shown) the info, and send it.

I'm no expert, but I think the ejector rod cutout problem may be may be due to the overall shroud length of a 12 shroud being less than for a 14. The barrel is the same lenghth, but the shroud is shorter to allow for the external nut. My guess from your info is that a change from the 11/12 to the 14/15 might have been a slightly longer ejector rod, and corresponding ejector rod cutout. I know that Charger (and his micrometer) will probably be able to confirm this.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

they are true and blue

I can see that at the front of the channel is thicker on the 12's than on the 14

But that could just be the forging..

Well, old welder, the other guys seem to have given you all the available info regarding your dilemma.  I don't have any pork chops so I can't be of any assistance.

So, let me just say welcome to the DWF to another resident of the Peoples Republic of Illinois.

I just looked back at some old research, and one of the stated upgrades from the Model 14 to the Model 14-1 was an "improved extractor rod".

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I think that improvement was the addition of a mushroom shaped tip on the end.

I still haven't measured my rods, I've been preoccupied with a bunch-o-stuff today...including a new DW.Laugh I'll have to get some good measurements tomorrow.
